Simple question on System Analyser CCS 5.4 and hardware trace.

Hello everyone,

We use CCS 5.3 and we're looking at CCS 5.4 to see if it would improve performance and reliability of the System Analyser. Target is C6678.

As I read the release notes I see a lot of things about Hardware Trace.

My question is : does the System Analyser use Hardware tracing ?

    Clément,

    System Analyzer and the Trace Display (the hardware trace data display) share the same underlying display engine (DVT), but they are shown in different views and are not linked at this moment.

    However, the Trace Display in v5.4 includes a lot of analysis features on the collected data, which greatly helps giving meaningful information to the data collected. If you are interested in that, I strongly suggest installing v5.4 and take a look at the features.

    Thank you for your answer.
    I'm not interested in the Trace Display right now.

    To be clear : for the System Analyser only, would I benefit moving from 5.3 to 5.4 ?

    The benefit would be marginal for your device family. From the System Analyzer perspective only, I can spot two bugs fixed in the release notes (one for C28x).
