Problem with Flash Programming on TMS320DM648.

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM648

Hi.

I have some problem with flash programming issue.

Our system is below.

------------------------------------------------------

1. DSP Types : TMS320DM648

2. CCS Version :  5.3.0.00090

3. Debugger : Spectrum XDS510 USB

4. Flash Type : S29GL256N11FAI010

------------------------------------------------------

I find a solution named "On-Chip Flash". but I heard "On-Chip Flash" is support only C2000.

How can I programming flash?

When I use CCS v3.3, I use "FlashUtil" in dvsdk. But CCS v5.x I can't find solution.

Please Help.

Best regards.

  • Hi Jae Yeop,

you are correct our current tools do not seem to support this.  However there are a couple options from third parties.  You do not need to remove v3.3 so you could also try using ccv5 to debug and generate code and still use the old flashutil you had been using.

See this flash programming page and please keep us informed:

    http://www.ti.com/general/docs/toollist.tsp?toolTypeId=11&familyId=44&toolSoftwareSortColumn=toolSupplier&toolSoftwareSortType=asc

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi,

Just adding to Lisa's reply; I recall the DM648 development board (EVM) has a companion CD that has .out binaries that write to the board's built-in flash memory. However, that would only work if your board uses the exact same memory device connected to the same DSP port (EMIFA port if I am not mistaken).

I don't have access to this utility or its source code, therefore if you think this may help I would strongly check with the experts at the device forum - they may have one of these files lingering around.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael

  • Thanks  Lisa and Rafael.

First, I was decide to use CCS v3.3 with Flash Util.

If I have some remain time, I'll attempt to migrate flash util to CCS v5.x.

If I Success, I'll write reply.

    Thanks again.

    Best regard.

  • Hi Jae Yeop,

ok, please keep us informed how it goes.
