CCS5.4 on virtual machine, XSD510 connection problem

WMware workstation 7.0 on Win7x64,

virtual machine runs Ubuntu12.04, CCS is latest version 5.4

I have trouble connecting to the emulator: after I set up the configuration, and run "test connection", this is what I get:

The wiki says this configuration should work.

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/VMware_with_CCS#Workstation_6.x_.2F_Player_2.x

the emulator is connected to virtual machine properly, however, when running "test connection", I can "hear" the usb connection is dropped then reconnected, not sure that's the way it's supposed to be.

  • Hello,

The Ubuntu VM cannot communicate with the emulator. When running on a Linux Host, there are several things to be aware of when installing CCS on it. Check the iLinux Host Support wiki, specifically the installation section. See the note regarding JTAG emulation installation:

That wiki was written (and tested) with a Windows VM in mind. But I do not see any reason why Ubuntu would not be supported.

This is actually normal. Sometimes the utility will re-enumerate the USB device.

    Thanks
