Exception at breakpoint setting.

Hi forum,

often if setting a hardware breakpoint in a kernel (CCS/Sitara Linux SDK/XDS100V2) I get the Breakpoint Manager exception message box:

"Exception error from JobMgr member function call".

Could somebody please interpret this sentence / translate to more human-friendly something?

Is it a "no code here" problem, or "no room for more breakpoint(s)".

I think, actually this message is about something else because I can successfully single step this same code which I wanted to set the breakpoint in.

Maybe this is a known buG? Forum search did not help, neither Google..

By the way, do somebody here happen to know, what is the Sitara 335x hardware breakpoints limit, for the CCS to set?

Thanks.

  • Is there a pattern to when this error appears? Does it happen after a certain number of breakpoints, or only at certain parts of the code etc?
Which exact version of CCS are you using?

I see that you also posted some similar questions to the AM335x device forum, which is monitored by the device experts. They have more expertise with the device itself and likely on the topic of kernel debug as well, so hopefully someone will chime in there with additional thoughts.
