Upgrade to CCS5.4 from CCS5.3 failed

Hello,

My subscription license expired for CCS, can I still upgrade to CCS5.4? If yes, then for some reason updates have been found, but the log window reported "Installation failed". I can see the new compiler (7.3.12 for C6000) and xdc tools (xdctools_3_25_00_48) were installed although some script errors were found.

What would be the last version that I can still upgrade to?

Thank you in advance,

David.

  • Hi David,

Can you please zip up the contents of the c:\program files\installjammer registry\ccsv5 (program files (x86) on 64 bit machines) and upload them here? The installjammer registry folder is hidden, so you may need to unhide it via explorer.

    Thanks
    Danish

  • Hi Danish,

Please find attached the requested file. CCSv5.3 doesn't seem to detect any more updates available.

    11748.ccsv5.zip

    Best regards,

    David.

  • It doesn't seem to have uploaded the zip file. Could you email it directly to me at d-innis@ti.com? I'll take a look and let you know how to go about fixing the problem.

    thanks

  • Hi David,

could you please try resending the logs ... they don't seem to have attached properly.  To answer your question .... yes you can do a minor upgrade like 5.3 ->5.4 with your license.  However, without an active subscription ... you may not be able to make the update to v6 when it comes out.

When did you try to update?  Have you tried to get the ccs update by itself using help->install new software and selecting "code composer studio v5 updates" from the drop down?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I re-edited the post and the zip file should now be available.8424.ccsv5.zip

I tried just today to upgrade CCS by using CCS->Help->Check for updates. I had to import the websites though from another computer running CCSv5.3 because on mine they were missing in Window->Preferences->Install/Update->Available Software Sites.

    Best regards,

    David.

  • Hi David,

as best we can tell it appears you are having an issue due to shared drives.   I would try clean out your current installation including logs and try fully unzipping and isntalling to a local simple directory like c:/myccs.  As you are likely aware, you should also ensure antivirus is disabled.

Please keep us informed how that goes.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

I've reinstalled the CCSv5.4 by removing \ti folder, disabled shared drives, this time works, but now I have problems compiling the projects if I switch compiler to 7.4.2. Another issue is that although the project settings expect compiler 7.3.11 and used compiler is reported 7.4.2, there is a small problem of java NullException which is posted here but also it doesn't seem to use all 4 cores of my PC even with Build settings to use parallel processors set to 4 enabled.

    Best regards,

    David.

  • Hi David,

may I please ask you to post any new/different issues to a new thread with full details.  I am very happy to hear you now have ccs installed.

    All the best with development.

    Best REgards,
    Lisa
