Variables view issue

can you please confirm/provide some details:

- what os and exact ccs version do you use

- what exact steps/optimization settings did you check/change/use.  Depending on what is causing the problem in your case, you need to have optimization completely off.  There is an off setting in the compilers "optmization" settings tab.  Project->properties->build->msp430 compiler->optimization

- what msp compiler version do you use (you can see this in the project properties->general.  you need to have the advanced setttings expanded

Code Composer 5.1.0.09000  , Wndows XP  , Compiler version TI V4.0.0

In Project->properties->build->msp430 compiler->optimization - Optimization Level =0

 and Control vs. Speed is blank.

If I disable high level optimization I can not build the output file for the debugger.

As I said before this is my first experience with CCS. I took an example project as a base and started adding code to it.

I can't view variables and if I disable high level optimization my debug output file won't build.

Why is this taking weeks to get resolved?

Hi Joe,

there is very little information to go on so far ... unfortunately.   

It seems you are using an old compiler version.  One suggestion is to install and try the latest ccs and compiler version as you may find any issues that you may be hitting have been resolved.

I think the next step if you really can't try the latest tools is the following

- we need to understand why you get build errors disabling the optimization like that

- can you send further info screen shots and verify you have indeed tried that option as blank?

I'm a  recent addition to the organization but my understanding is that the tools were purchased not long ago.

How do I upgrade?...is there a fee?

Hi Joe,

your v5.1 license setup will be valid for v5.4 and you can upgrade for free.  My best recommendation is to install v5.4 with a full fresh installation  into a new directory.   We commonly have parallel installation ourselves.

Hi Lisa,

I did the upgrade and now have 2 CCS shortcuts V5 and V5.40. When I try to open either I get

CCSstudio executable launcher was unable to locate it companion launcher jar. I'm dead in the water.

Hi Joe,

did you install it as a full installation rather than update?   Are you able to launch in the path that looks similar to this running ccstudio.exe?

C:\CCS\5_4RC1\ccsv5\eclipse
