Update from CCSv5.2 to CCSv5.5 Problem

Hi all,

just launched an update from CCSv5.2 to CCSv5.4. After a lot of downloads and installations a message came up and stated that an error occured during the installation. Unfortulately I didn't took a screenshot of it, but it was something about a log or messagefile which should be forwarded to this forum to get help, along with the folder where this message supposed to be!!!

After quitting the error message, the istallation process was ended, and my CSS doesn't work any more! The actual message is: "The Ccstudio executable launcher was unable to locate its companion launcher jar."

Please help!

  • Hi Hans,

    Can you please zip up the contents of the logs directory c:\program files\installjammer registry\ccsv5 (program files (x86) if the machine is 64 bit) and attach it here?

    Please note, installjammer registry is a hidden folder - you may need to unhide it in explorer.

    could you please zip and send the installation logs?  These will be in the installjammer registry folder which is likely a hidden folder and will be found in program files or program files (x86).

    Also, would you be willing to try a fresh full installation of v5.4 into a new simple directory?

    Here are the files from today from the installjammer.

    Maybe it's best to install the fresh full installation of v5.4. But where to get it?

  • I have a similar issue installing CCS 5.4.00091 when I tried to install.

    I had initially installed 5.1 version from DVD and not even used it, so I uninstalled it.

    Tried a couple of times to install it on Win7/64. After a while it got an error and then uninstalled itself.

    the component com.ti.dvt.msp430.power.feature.group was the problem. Then it tells me to look in InstallJammer folder for the log file.

    Please advise what I should do.

  • Hi Mohan,

    are you using a junction or server?  A very quick look shows two drive letters.  Please remove the install and try again from start fully unzipping and installing to a simple local drive like c:/myccs.

    I did get my CCSv5.4 installed.

    After plugging my MSP430 FET UIF device to my target, it decided to update it. Well it ran it errors.

    Now I get a popup:

    "Initializing emulator"

    "No USB FET was found"

    The Forum has a number of posts with the same issue... but not real thread which shows a definitive way how to fix it.

    My WIn7/64bit machine shows the device as "MSP-FET430UIF - VCP (COM6)

    Project properties shows connection will be "TI MSP430 USB1 [Default]".

    Just to report, I also had similar issues when upgrading, except there was no installjammer directory anywhere on my system!

    The CCS unistaller then failed to work so I had to use a 3rd party uninstaller tool. Spent about a day uninstalling, cleaning then downloading and reinstalling on 2 PCs before I got it working :(

    In addition to this I'd like to note, and if possible have submitted as a bug report, that the uninstall of CCS (even with a correctly working uninstall) is still pretty poor - files, registry entries and directories are still left scattered across the system in places like the default (though unused) workspace path, user and user profile folders, temp folders (several of), and so on (there are quite a lot of registry entries left behind also).

    sorry, I almost forgot to inform you:

    After uninstalling my CSS5.2 I could successfully install 5.4 and now everything is fine.
