CCS4 does not respond at startup

Hi Vishwanatha,

is the understanding correct you only have this problem with that specific workspace?  Or are you having general launching problems all of  a sudden.

It is a generic problem. I even tried creating a new workspace but same problem persists.

Hi Lisa,
one more point to add. incidentally, CCS5 is also hanging right during startup.
this was working earlier (v5.2.0). I am not sure if this is related to CCS4 problem.

Hi Vishwanatha,

would you be able to send screen shots/details on at what point and what error message you get?    One thing we have seen cause such issues is visual c package problems/versions.    

If you can find the file that is like *vcredist*.exe you can try running it to ensure you have the microsoft visual c 2005  version installed.

So ccs does actually open?  I see a screen shot with the project explorer showing.

Would you please follow the steps in this wiki to enable error logging and send us the dump files and error logs?

Hi Lisa,

• I executed both vcredist_x86_2005.exe and vcredist_x86.exe. Executing vcredist_x86.exe first uninstalled existing one and then I re-installed it.
• I tried to configure dump files by clicking 'Help->CCS Support Activities' menu. But CCS4 hangs at this stage.
• In fact, none of the menu item open (e.g., if I click Preferences, CCS4 hangs).
• The only menu that works after opening CCS4 is Import Project.

if you don't have any dump files generated, do you get error logs you could send?  Normally these are hs_error or similar

I didn't find the file. I searched for log files but got nothing useful.

It looks like i can no more use CCS4/CS5 !!

Have you tried v5.4?  Does it give you the same problem?  If so  I can see what feedback we can get from development.
