EKS-LM4F232 Stellaris Evaluation Kit board-locked license

I recently downloaded and installed CCS v5.4, from the TI website, on a 64-bit Win 8 laptop.  It has the 90 day evaluation license.  Install was successful.  I have been using it for a few days.

I just received the EKS-LM4F232 Eval Kit I purchased, which has CCS v5.2 on the CD.  I installed the drivers and ran the Logger app with no problems.

Now, I need to convert CCS from the 90-day license to the board-locked license.  If I try to install CCS from the CD I get the error msg "Code Composer Studio v5 is not supported on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion     ProductName    REG_SZ  Windows 8 Pro.   Do you want to continue to install?"  I assume this is because of the CCS v5.4 that is already installed.  I really don't want to have two different versions of CCS on this machine.

I have searched the forums and can't find a post that is directly related to this.  Is there a way to simply change / upgrade the license from the 90 day ticker to the EKS board-locked version on my existing CCS v5.4 installation?

  • Hi Larry,

first I would stay with the latest version, v5.4.    Regarding licensing.   There are two options.

1 - you can try restarting the license setup under help->code composer studio licensing information.  The upgrade tab should have the "launch license setup".

2 - wait for the demo to run out and then switch

    I hope this helps clarify.

  • Thanks Tina,

Help->code composer studio licensing information->upgrade did give me the option to enable the Stellaris free (board-locked) license.  The evaluation board was connected to a USB port on the PC at the time.  I'm not sure if that made a difference or not.

    Thanks again,

    Larry

  • Hi Larry,

great, happy to hear you are setup with the correct license now.

Thanks for the update and all the best with development.
