CCS Errors

I have been getting numerous errors concerning “org.eclipse.ui.workbench” and “CDT Builder” with my installation of CCS. I am running version 5.3.0.00090 with Windows 7 Pro 32 and also with XP Pro 32. I have not had any trouble with CCS until recently. I tried a round of updates but that seemed to make it worse. I see there is a version 5.4 available, is this a new release of CCS and could it possibly solve my problem?

I would also like to know if having multiple workspaces on multiple disk drives can cause errors. I have an SD card I like to use for my ‘portable’ projects and hopefully on a Launchpad that uses SD cards.

  • Hi David,

I would very strongly recommend downloading and installing v5.4 from here as a new full fresh clean installation to a new directory (simple like c:/myccs)

You should be able to have multiple locations for your workspaces.  One thing I can think of to watch in the case of an sd card is the drive letter constantly changing.  So you may need to specifically browse to open your workspace each time.

Hope this helps and keep us informed how the v5.4 installation goes.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Thanks Lisa!

I had a hunch I should do a reinstallation, and I didn’t know about version 5.4.0 until I got on here this morning. I have my SD cards formatted and named so the drive letter is not that big of a deal.

I am running dual operating systems on my PC. D: drive is Windows 7 Pro. 32 and C: drive is XP Pro 32. My F: drive is a common file and data storage disk for both OS’s and it is my default location for CCS files.  I am having the same problem on both drives so I would assume that I need to do a reinstallation on both of them.

I am thinking that the best way to do this is to uninstall what I have now and run disk clean up as well as a registry repair.

    Talley Ho mate!!

  • Hi David,

ok, please keep us posted how that goes.

    Lisa

  • OK, the “demolition” phase is complete. After I uninstalled 5.3 I ran Check Disk, Defragmented, CCleaner cleanup, Windows Cleanup, and registry repair (CCleaner) between each operation, along with a total power down restart.

I will post my progress, and I assure you it will be entertaining!

  • So far, this seems to be a success! I went into my Program Files folder and found a version 4.0 that needed to be removed. I also created a completely separate CCS directory outside of my Program Files folder. There are some Windows reasons for having to do this and I don’t know the details, but it seems the CCS updates won’t work unless it is installed this way.

  • Thank you very much Lisa!

I have solved my problem. I think the major part of the solution was creating a separate directory for CCS on my D: drive, per your advice. I will do the same for my C: drive and my Acer notebook.

  • Hi David,

great, very happy to hear and thanks for updating.

    All the best with development.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
