My software update has killed my copy of CCSv5 while upgrading to 5.4. As instructed in the error message, I have zipped the contents of the install tool logs. I am dead in the water - Code Composer will not even start now. Please help ASAP.
Hi Robert,
would you be able to just try a fresh full installation of v5.4? Clear out the old installation(s) and logs. Use the full offline v5.4 installer installing and unzipping locally to a simple directory like c:/myccs. Also ensure antivirus is disabled.
This is likely the best option.
Please keep us informed.
Best REgards,
Lisa
Lisa,
I did that before receiving your answer. It installed, but now I am unable to get it to accept the license file. I tried the one I had been using, and when that didn't work I requested another. Same problem. It says my host ID does not match the one in the license file. I checked, and the MAC address is correct. I don't know if it matters, but I have Virtual Box running on my PC, and it shows up as another ethernet adapter with its own physical address. Could the tools be looking at this instead? How can I tell?

Lisa,
Here is some more information. I uninstalled 5.4 and re-installed it - again. This time I let it guide me to get a 90 day temporary license. I installed the license file and it works. So, what could be wrong with my permament license file? I've attached both to this posting. I had to change their extensions to .txt because your file attachment doesn't allow .lic files to be attached.

Hi Bob,
I am glad you got past the installation problem. Regarding the license ... the license file requires the eth0 address of the machine you run on. Depending on your VM setup this may be different and hence why the license file started complaining.
I would do a couple things
- verify the eth0 address on both VM and pc
- see if you can set your VM to use the same one
If you need to rehost the license to a new MAC address, you are able to do this once yourself here: www.ti.com/myregisteredsoftware
Otherwise you need the license team at ccs_subscriptions@list.ti.com
Another note: CCS will not look for a permanent license while the demo is still going. You may be able to bypass this to test/retest your permanent license by restarting the license setup under Help->Code Composer Studio Licensing Infomration-> Upgrade tab .... "Launch License Setup"
Please keep us informed.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Lisa,
Okay, here's the weird thing. If I start the license setup wizard, it lists 2 MAC addresses for the machine. The first MAC address (101f74f67740) is the one I used when I got my latest license file from TI. So, if the tool itself says that this is a valid Host ID, why is it rejecting the license file? Is it possible for you to analyze the contents of my permanent license file to see what the Host ID is in it? I already did a re-host when this problem first happened, so I can't do another myself.
I also still have my original license file, that I was using when I had the 5.2 version of Code Composer running. Here it is (again, with its extension changed to .txt):

It worked fine with version 5.2, so why is version 5.4 rejecting it?

Hi Robert,
if you feel confident this is not a VM setup item, I can only point you to the license team as I posted earlier. Our team here does not have the visibility and/or ability to do the rehosting for you, but license team can help you.
Please keep us informed here as well.
Best Regards,
Lisa
