CCSV5.4 installation and running problems

1. attempted to update CCSV5.3 thru CCSV on XP and Win 7 systems both failed. I had to reinstall CCSV5.3.

2. Downloaded CCSV5.4 offline version.

3. Install CCSV5.4 on XP system in a new directory. CCSV5.4 started up, asked for workspace directory, approximately 1 sec later CCSV5.4 quit working. I found that the workspace directory must hase a project in it. CCSV5.4 started up correctly with known project and work OK. The next day CCSV5.4 wouldn't startup at all.

4. Install CCSV5.4 on a 64bit win 7 system. I was able to get it working with a known project.

5. When I attempted to open TI resource explorer inside CCSV5.4, It cause an error and shutdown CCSV5.4.

At this point in time, I can't wasted any more resources and time trying to debug this version of CCSV.

Have these problems been seen before? Are there any fixes for it?

Best regards,

Keith Pant

  • Hi Keith,

do you get any error logs or dump files generated?   http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Troubleshooting_CCS

This happens on multiple pcs for all workspaces?   I am wondering if it might be proxy settings.  The resource explorer that comes up uses a browser.  Would you be able to check your proxy settings as well?

    Best Regards,
    LIsa

  • Sorry, Lisa the proxy setting are fine.

I have no problems on either system using CCSV5.3.

  • Hi Keith,

did you update or install v5.4 separately?  (just to verify)

Could you send any error logs as well as the installation/update logs?   The installation/update logs will be in the installjammer registry directory.  The folder may be hidden and can be found under program files or program files (x86).

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Yes , I did as I stated in the beginning. (Learn how to read.)

No, I can't send any error logs. I deleted all references to CCSV5.x on the systems to make sure I didn't run into prolems when I reinstalled CCSV5.3.

  • Hi Keith,

I always like to verify as sometimes by "Update" people have in turn meant install over or other things.  So my appologies if my understanding slipped.

Regardless ... do you wish to move to v5.4?  Are you willing to make an attempt to install v5.4 fresh to a new directory and try again? (full installation)

Unfortunately without any logs we won't be able to really dig into what might have caused the problem.

Please let us know if you wish further support to get to 5.4

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I have spent over 40 man-hours trying to get CCSV5.4 up and running correctly.

I have done full installations in new directories twice on two different systems without success. (a total of four installs)

I have no confidence in CCSV5.4 working correctly.

I will stay using CCSV5.3. It is working without issues at this time.

I may try in the future, when a new release (CCSV5.5) comes out try to load it. Maybe by then TI will fine the bugs.

  • Hi Keith,

I am sorry to hear you have struggled with moving to v5.4.

We have actually improved the installer to the point where all cases essentially fall into one of four known issues.  However the install logs are what help us debug installation issues.  Some of these you could check for yourself potentially.

    ->antivirus interference

->incompatibility with some NVDIA graphics cards (there is a work around)

    -> use of servers/junctions/mapped drives

-> Lack of sse2 support on old processors

However it seems perhaps it is not install but crashes/instability you are seeing from some of your posts?  If this is the case we would need the error logs to determine the cause of the issue.  You can enable error logging as per the wiki I sent in my first reply.   Alternatively send any error files generated as ccs opens.

At any rate I have spoken with Viktorija and am happy to help at any point should you be able to continue offline with the logs.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

If I understand correctly, the new CCS v5.4 not support on CPU without SSE2?

  • Unfortunately, V5.4 will not run on processors that don't implement SSE2. We're looking at removing that restriction for the next CCS update.

  • That would be great. I wait for the new version. Tell me please approximate the release of the new version?

  • The next update should be available in the September timeframe.
