Failed 5.4.0 install with "No repository found"

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO

Hello,

I am trying to install CCS 5.4.0.00091 (full installer) on WinXP for MSP430.  After several failures due to low disk space, restarting the install I get the error "Installing com.ti.ccstudio.installer.win32/feature.group ... failed".  The GUI installer log shows:

Configuring com.ti.ccstudio.statupInstaller
Preparting to comit the provisioning operation.
Committing the provisioning operation.
Operation completed in 5969 ms.
Installation failed.
Installation failed.
Installation failed.

This error is in the InstallJammer log:

Despite the fact that the install seems to have failed, CCS can start up, but I assume I will run into a missing part eventually.

The folder in which I unzipped the installer contains these items in featurerepo: artifacts.jar, binary/,  features/.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

  • Hi John,

a couple things.  First, would you be able to send the install logs?  These would be in the installjammer registry directory.  The folder may be hidden and is in program files or program files(x86).

The second thing is in the mean time there are a couple things you can check and some of the only known items:

    - antivirus should be disabled

    - you should not use shared/virtual/mapped drives etc (Due to the E: I am wondering if this could be your situation?   It is always best to fully unzip and install locally .. eg c:/myccs)

    - although this is likely not the case, if you happen to have a certain NVDIA graphics card, this has been causing issues.

Please do keep us informed and send the logs.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

    I've attached the ccs_setup log.

The E: drive I use is a local, not a network drive.  I'm not using C: since that disk is full.

I'm installing in a virtual machine that I've used for CCS in the past (v4.2.3), and I assume that its "VMWare SVGA II" display adapter does not interact in the same way as the CCS install FAQ mentions.  The Linux host machine has nVidia driver version 304.88, which is earlier than your FAQ mentions.

    Thanks,

    John

  • Hi John,

can you please ensure there is no connection outside of the VM and/or E drive?  I still see both E and C involved in the installation and I think this is the issue.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

During the install I specified the E: drive as the destination, so that makes sense, and it seems that C: is used by default for temporary files although I'd rather the installers just use E:.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by VM external connections.  There are several other network drives mapped to other letters and a drive Q: which is shared with the host Linux machine.  Are you suggesting that all these drives be disconnected before retrying the install?

    Thanks,

    John

  • Hi John,

I would remove traces of your attempts and ensure all is done, unzipping, installing and temp folder on the E drive.   You may need to manually change an environment variable to do this but you need to keep the entire installation local.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

    Here's what I did:

    • Removed leftover CCS5 directory from the failed install
    • Searched registry for CCS5 keys (found none)
    • Changed TEMP and TMP environment variables to e:\tmp
    • Uninstalled CCS4.2.3
    • Uninstalled Debug Server
    • Rebooted

I then reran the CCS5 install which was already extracted and it again failed.  The log was almost identical with the one from the previous attempt, but temporary files were being put in e:\temp as expected.

I re-extracted the zip file, reran the installer and now ... all is fine, so the problem was a failed unzipping!  Installation succeeded and I can blink an LED under debugger control.

    Thanks for your help!

    ,

    John

  • Hi John,

great, very happy to hear you are installed.   thanks for the update and all the best with development.
