Error connecting to Experimenter's Kit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28335

Hello,

I am quite new to the TI DSPs and I've been trying to play with the TMS320C2000 Experimenter Kit and an F28335 controlCARD. I am using CCS v4.1.0.02005. The Target Configuration is set to TI XDS100v1 USB emulator and the board or device is set to TMS320F28335. Now, I have an example project (Example_2833xCpuTimer) open and the hardware connected via USB and set to USB mode (switch on board flipped to 'usb'), however, when I click on 'debug', I get the following error message:

Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000240/-116
Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,

When  I click re-try, I get the following:

Error connecting to the target:
Error 0x80000200/-1047
Fatal Error during: OCS,
PTI_ERR_EMU_CLOSE Error Occured at 0x00000000

Any suggestions as to how to get the hardware recognized?

Thanks in advance.

ed.

  • Just an update. Someone hinted me that CCS v4.1 might have some issues. Therefore I installed CCS v3.3. I selected the target f28335 XDS 100 USB Emulator and the device has been recognized. Therefore, I would strongly suspect the issue is with CCS v4.1.

    Best,

    edwin.

  • Hi Edwin,

it is hard to say with these things but v4.1 and v3.3 are both old versions I would not recommend.  Would you be willing to try the latest release?  v5.4?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Edwin,

just thought I would see whether there is any update to your enquiry.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks. I also downloaded and installed CCS v5.4 as per your recommendation and I can connect via XDS100. I have already verified your previous response.

I might be wrong but I think there is still a version of CCS 4 being sold by TI, right? If issues like these persist with older versions of CCS, why aren't they just discontinued?

    regards

    edwin

  • Hi Edwin,

thanks for the update and glad to hear you are up and running.

While we do phase older versions out, we do find the need to retain them.   I agree using the latest version with bug fixes etc is best, however sometimes in special industries or for special reasons, customers may be stuck to a specific version.   I actually believe we only "sell" v5 now, however the v5 license allows v4 use.

    Best Regards,
