CCS 4.0 Installation Hangs Up

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C5535

My CCS 4.0 installation hangs up in Installing C5500  Code Generation Tools, Installing Windows Format Libraries

My system:

Dell XPS14 Laptop

Intel Core i7 @ 2.00GHz

8GB RAM

Win7 Enterprise (64bit)

External DVD-ROM drive running on USB

To start installation:

I click on Setup_CCS_4.2.4.00033.exe in my TMS320C5535 eZDSP USB kit's CD-ROM.

Things I have tried:

Turned UAC to 'never notify'

Installing in C:\TI, C:\Texas Instruments, C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments

I am the Administator on this laptop

Has anyone else run into this problem before?

  • Hi Sean,

here are a few things to try/tips.

1 - first and foremost if there is no specific reason for v4, I would very very strongly recommend downloading and installing the latest version (v5.4) from here.  Use the full installer and fully unzip and install to a simple local directory with antivirus disabled.   I would remove the previous attempts first.

2 - if you need v4 ... try the same with v4.  The cds ship with old versions and at times the installer can be a bit touchy when multiple drives are involved in an install.

Please keep us informed how it goes.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Finally got CCS 4.0 installed.  I am now successfully processing samples and pushing them out the DAC. Here's how it went down:

    1.  Could not install with the software provided in dev kit cd-rom.  Either permissions issue or damaged cd-rom, which looked like it had been smudged with glue???

    2.  So, deleted everything I had attempted to install.

    3.  Recreated cd-rom contents on my hard drive by downloading software as needed from ti website.

    4.  Now, I could successfully install ccs 4.0 from the hdd.  btw: I will not not do ccs 5 until necessary, since I have everything working.

    5.  However, I could not get my emulator to connect, or download code to the processor.  :(

    6.  So, I copy and pasted the error code and found another user on the ti website with a similar problem.

    7.  This user experiences led me to reflash the EEPROM for the usb controller or emulator (can't remember which).

    8.  After that, ccs could detect my device and I was up and running.

Sorry, can't remember everything, but I was at my mother-in-law's when I was figuring all this out and don't have access to the google history because it all got saved under her account....

  • Hi Sean,

thanks for the update and feedback.  Glad you are past the hurdles.   We are aware of some of the issues with older dvd copies.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
