We are doing some research about LTE communications by using the Neocific Mamba board. The processor on the board is TMS320C6457. We also use the Spectrum Digital XDS510USB Emulator with a JTAG low voltage adapter to convert the voltage from 3.3V to 1.8V. We use CCS 5.3.

The program has been compiled successfully. But when we open the debugger and try to download the .out file to the target board, it says “Error connecting to the target: Connect to PRSC failed, -6305”.

We really don’t know what’s going on. Please give us some suggestions.

Hi Rafael,

Thanks for your tips. I tried several methods but still cannot connect to the board. The same problem.

I have one more question to ask. We use a power adapter to adjust the 3.3V DC to 1.8V DC for the safety concern. However, when we referred to the datasheet of the board, it says the board can tolerate 1.1V, 1.8V, and 3.3V in different situations respectively. We are not sure whether it is because we lower the power level to 1.8V that causes the connection problem. Right now, we haven't tried to use the 3.3V power because we are afraid of damaging the board.

Please give us some advice. We use the Neocific Mamba board with TMS320C6457 DSP processor.

Wiecheng,

Unfortunately I don't know this board in details but, if possible, I would check the voltages of the multiple V_DD rails and see if they are within the device spec. The board may have test points for that, since probing pins on a high density BGA is far from trivial (if not impossible).

In my opinion, if the manufacturer lists the board voltage tolerances it is probably safe to operate with the higher 3.3V supply. I would also check if the power adapter is able to supply the maximum current used by the board (especially at power up, where it can suffer the largest surge) and verify if its ripple/noise ratings under load are acceptable.

You already mentioned you are using a voltage translator for your XDS510USB, therefore it shouldn't be a problem (this particular emulator is not specified for operation under 3.3V)

I am not sure what else I could help in this case, as it seems extremely hardware related and unfortunately I don't have the same board as yours. In any case, give these suggestions a try and see if you can get some additional insights about what may be happening.
