I am having difficulties getting CCS v5.4 installed too. I was directed to use off-line installer, but in vain. Please see the attached file. 1854.ccs_setup_5.4.0.00091_install.log

Hi Sean,
do you have an NVIDIA graphics card? From the log, it seems like you might be hitting a known incompatibility with them.

I managed to install it successfully when running Win 7 under the safe mode. However, I cannot activate the installed CCS v5.4. CCS is not responding after I select a workspace. Would you please shed some on light on this issue?

glad to hear you seem a step further. Does this also happen if you create a new workspace?
Could you have a look at this wiki and send any dump files or error logs?

You were right that it went through with a new workspace. Does it mean that I cannot open an existing workspace which was prepared with v4? Should I import it again to v5.4?

Hi Sean,
the normal procedure would be to import the project(s) not reuse workspaces. this can be done with project->import existing ccs/eclipse project.
