Error updating to CCS 5.4

I tried an update from 5.3 to 5.4.  It took a very long time, and at the end, I got errors.  The error dialog tells me to upload the file here.

  • Hi Alex,

did you overinstall or use the built in update?  Would you be willing to do a full fresh installation of v5.4?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • I used built-in update.  I just tried running CCS, and everything looks OK so far.  I did a build, but no debugging.  If a problem comes up, I'll try a fresh install.

  • Hi Alex,

ok, just post again if any issues arise.

    Lisa

  • I checked for software updates on the 5.4 install, and it threw a lot of errors.  I tried uninstalling to perform a fresh install, but the uninstaller would hang up.  I tried running the offline installer on top of the 5.3 install, and it completed without complaining.  However, when I tried checking for software updates, CCS asked me for login credentials to the update sites.  I cancelled them all (my TI login did not work), and CCS found two updates.  I installed them and restarted.  I tried install updates again, and it did not ask for login credentials.  It also found no updates.

I tried "install new software" and it found 5.4.00091 on the TI update site.  On help->about, CCS claims to be 5.4:

However, clicking the CCS button on the about box, it says 5.3 is installed:

  • Hi Alex,

the best path is always not to update, overinstalling is known to be problematic, but to do a full fresh installation.

  • I tried that, but the installer displayed an error dialog, then froze (almost an hour with no progress).  I just tried an uninstall again (after the 5.4 overwrite), and it worked.  It deleted both the 5.3 and 5.4 groups from my start menu.  Hopefully, this gets things straightened out.  I'd say the installer needs some bug fixes.

  • Hi Alex,

we have seen the update path(s) to be somewhat problematic and both that and the installer is definitely in focus for us.

Glad you seem to have v5.4 up and running.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa
