CCSv5.4 install/update error

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430WARE, OMAPL138, TMS320C6748, OMAP-L138

All,

I have recently re-installed CCSv5.4 because the update from 5.3 didn't work properly. Now there are issues w/ updating, find attached the logs according to the install error message from CCS installation program.

Before the error happened, I have installed available updates via Help -> Check for Updates. The Spectrum Digital download site caused timeout errors, so I deactivated updates for the SD emulators.

I don't understand what went wrong. It would be great if you could help me out.

Thx & rgds,

Marc

  • Hi Marc,

It looks like you have a problem updating the emulation packages. Could you zip up the logs in c:\program files (x86)\installjammer registry\Emupack_Logfiles and attach them here?

    thanks

  • I believe that I have encountered this or a similar problem.  When I run the update process, there is a fail when it tries to access the BlackHawk Emulators site (which I do not use at this time).  If Installjammer runs to completion thereafter, the first attempt to restart gives an error indicating I should zip and send the attached files.  Clicking the desktop icon causes the installation of a number of packages (I'm not certain how many or which).  Then CCS loads and runs, but I'm not certain exactly which packages have been updated.

  • Hi Dave,

From the logs you submitted, it looks like you did an update to a CCS 5.3 installation. It looks like you successfully updated the following components:

code generation tools for C2000, ARM, C6000 and MSP430, MSP430ware, TI C2000, MSP430 Keystone and Spectrum Digital Emulators

It looks like you then uninstalled the CCS from c:\bin\ti and did a fresh installation using the 5.4 offline installer, which was successful.

Are you experiencing any issues with the installation?

  • Hi,

I first attempted to update the 5.3 version that was installed.  I encountered the error described, and started to contact you.  But I decided to uninstall and do the install from scratch.

This went well, but at some point I decided to check for any component updates I might have missed.  This caused the error again, but this time I manually restarted from the CCS desktop icon, and let the installers run to completion.

I disabled checks of the Blackhawk site.  Most stuff seems OK.

I am currently working with the OMAPL138 LCDK and the TMS320C6748 DSP LCDK boards,  but I have used other products in the past.

    Thanks,

    Dave

  • Danish,

    there wasn't a file Emupack_Logfiles, but sd_emupack and Emu_Logfiles, find both attached.

Just for clarification: On my PC, the CCSv5.3 update caused problems, so I uninstalled any software installed to C:\ti\ccsv5 (there were some simulators and other stuff as well), renamed the remaining folder c:\ti\ccsv5 to c:\ti\old_ccsv5_old and started a completely new installation to C:\ti\ccsv5. Installation of the Spectrum Digital Emulation update failed due to server timeouts, so I deactivated it.

Additionally, after having the CCSv5.4 installed, the OMAP-L138 MSP and the BIOS NDK caused errors after the 'checking for installed packages' step, so I removed them completely. Today, CCSv5.4 installs

    Thx & rgds,
    Marc

  • Marc,

My mistake, it was Emu_logfiles. It looked like you had a problem installing one of the emulation packages.

Are you saying you did a fresh CCS5.4 installation that completed without any errors? If so, I'm glad you're up and running. Please let us know if you have any more problems.
