Hi All

I am planning to buy beaglebone(not beaglebone black) to make myself comfortable with the Kernel and uboot debugging.

Kindly answer my following queries:

1) With the inbuilt XDS100 module in beaglebone, whether i will be able to do step by step debugging of uboot and kernel ussing CCSv5limited release)?

2) If step by step debugging is possible, can you please provide the steps to do it.

Thanks for your response. It would definitely be very useful.

Just I would like to reconfirm that the uboot debugging (demonstrated in the link you provided) could be done with the inbuilt XDS100v2 JTAG emulator of beaglebone, I need not to buy XDS100v2 emulator separately..

Harman,

Yes, it is perfectly possible to do u-boot debug with the XDS100v2 emulator built into the Beaglebone white board.

One minor detail that differs using both types of emulators: if for any reason you need to power cycle the board, keep in mind the built-in emulation is powered off as well, thus requiring you to terminate the debug session before doing that. If using a standalone emulator, you would simply need to disconnect from all the connected cores without terminating the debug session.
