Copy projects in CCSv4

Hello,

I'm trying to copy original projects in CCSv4 by first importing, copying the current project in C/C++ Projects window and pasting there only.

I want to copy this project in the workspace I'm working in. When I input location and name of the new project, I always get an error saying the location of the project overlaps the workspace location.

Another way, I tried to create a new project folder in the workspace and specify the new location, the CCS still show the same information and the OK button is greyed out.

 

Anyone know why this is happening?

    Hi Jaspreet,

    could you possibly send some screen captures?  I am trying to understand exactly what you are trying to do so if necessary I can try to reproduce this.   Is there a specific reason you wish to clone/copy the project?  Note ... ccs does not allow two projects of the same name in a workspace so you would also have to deal with renaming.

    Hello Lisa,

    I want to copy the project because I want to use a template project from TI and modify it accordingly for my application.

     

    This is the error I'm getting.

    Hi Jaspreet,

    if you create a new project you should have access to the same templates.  This is also safer.  

    Also, have you tried adding the project name at the end of the Location you entered?

    ie  ..... /Projects/myrenamedproj

    I tried your suggestion, still the issue is not resolved.

    Can this be an issue with CCS.

    Hi Jaspreet,

    can you lay out in exact detail what you are doing/trying to do?  I have tried a few copy and paste in my v4.2.5 and did not see any issues.

    Hello Lisa,

    I'm copying a template project provided by TI into my own workspace. The reason for copying is that I want to modify it according to my application.

    Rather than creating a new project and linking all the files, I thought it's better to use a template project at the first place and then modify it.

    The copy project procedure works perfectly if I copy the project outside a workspace, but this is not I want. If the issue still persists, then I might have to follow your suggestion to create a new project and work accordingly.

    I'm using CCS version 4.2.3.

    Hi Jaspreet,

    I am still a bit unclear on exactly what you are doing as I could not reproduce any copy/paste error.

    Having said that

    -why not import or do a new project.   Both are really better options anyhow.
