CCSv5.4 still has the same option as mentioned in the thread referenced - i.e., if you right-click on the project there is an option named Add Files. Selecting it will bring a browse window that will allow you to select the desired files to be added and, when clicking OK (or Open), then the referenced dialog box will be shown.
If that does not show for you, can you try to open a different workspace and/or reset the one you are currently working (menu Window --> Reset perspective).

Hi Rafael,
Thank you for the input.
But I found out by myself that in CCSv5.4 I can link the files by right-clicking the project -> new file -> file. In the file option if you click Advanced and by ticking Link to file in the file system , I can link files to the system easily.
I didn't want to add the files to the project.
