Hi Ricky,
would you be willing to try a fresh full installation to a new clean directory? Use the full installer and turn antivirus off.
Having said that, did you try to overinstall? This is not going to work. Did you use the update manager?
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Ricky,
yes go ahead and clean out the previous including logs.
Best Regards,
Lisa
PC locked up and had to reboot. I then tried another uninstall - it worked this time. So now I will try a fresh install.....
Hi Ricky,
the best thing to help with install issues are the install logs located in the installjammer registry directory. This directory might be hidden and is under program files or program files(x86).
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Ricky,
could you please to the following
1 - please clear out all your old installations including the logs. Normally we manually delete things
2 - Please try again with the full offline installer. Make sure antivirus is disabled.
Best Regards,
Lisa
I got the same results after doing the following:
I deleted the folders “C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallJammer Registry” and the “C:\ti”.
I then ran the “ccs_setup_5.4.0.00091.exe” file.
The CCS Installation Window did open but never changed and showed any progress after about 3 minutes. I then clicked on the window and it showed (Not Responding). After 30 min, still no change.
The InstallJammer Registry was created again and is attached.
Ricky,
The installer steps after the point where your log stops are mostly querying some registry keys. These registry accesses determine what common components might already be installed and therefore would not need to be re-installed. I have not seen these registry query APIs hang in the past.
The best option I can think of right now would be to collect a Process Monitor log for the CCS installer process up to the point where it hangs. By looking at the registry accesses being made just before the hang, we may discover if there are permissions issues or interactions with other software on your PC that block these accesses. I could also be wrong about the registry accesses causing problems in which case the log would also provide a better indication of where the installer is stuck.
The procedure for doing this would be to download and run the process monitor tool from the above link, start the CCS installer and let it run until it hangs. Stop the tool, save the log file in PML format, zip it and post it here.
How long should I wait to assume the installation has stopped based on no updates to the Installation Window?
If you don't see any output for 5-10 minutes, then I would say it was hung. You can also have a look at the Windows task manager and see if there are any installer processes are running.
The zip file is too massive to be useful (5.5GB!). I just wanted to confirm that is the zipped size of the file? I can provide an ftp site to upload the file, but it doesn't sound like it would be useful give how big it is.
Another approach that might be more fruitful is to start the process monitor tool after the CCS install has appeared to hang and capture a few minutes of logs.
I tried the install again. It did show "Not Responding" 5-10 times but did recover every time. The only thing I did different was to start and stop the Process Monitor after a few minutes of no updates, so a big file would not be created. Anyway I now have a complete install.
thanks for your help.
