CCSv4 c2000 license doesnt work

Hallo.

I'm working with 28335 via Sau-510  emulator. I have got a free license to CCSv4 and played a lot with it in that day. But now i can not connect to target :/.

First of all, i open my project. In the top of window there is a sentence in braces - (Licensed). I press  "Debug" button, CCS is linking files and after it opens License window where i can choose license file and other stuff. The sentence in tne top  changes to (Unlicensed). When i choose my lic file i get an error:

-----------------------------------------------------------

Exception occured during launch

Reason:

No such feature exist.

Feature: CCS_CONNECTION_ALL

License path: ".....way to my lic"; C:\Program files\Texas Instruments\ccsv4\DebugServer\license\*.lic;

FLEXnet Licensing error: -5,357;

-------------------------------------------------------------

I did not change any in ccs4 preferences, examples, project and anywhere. I worked with this license last friday, it worked good...

  • Michael,

    Which free license are you using?  The 30/90 day eval, code size limited, or the "free limited license"?  If it is the last one this one will not let you use a XDS510 class emulator.

    To use an XDS510 or XDS560 emulator CCS looks for CCS_CONNECTION_ALL in the license file, if inside your license file it says CCS_CONNECTION_LIMITED then this is the "free limited license".  The "free limited license" is meant for use with XDS100 class emulators, simulators and boards with onboard emulation like many eZdsp kits, EVMs and DSKs.

    If you do see CCS_CONNECTION_ALL in your license file let me know.

    Regards,

    John

  • John,

    I used 30 days trial and after it I chose license "code size limited" - because our programs are fit for this size.

    Here is a part of my .lic file:

    INCREMENT CCS_CONNECTION_RESTRICTED tidspssw 4.99 permanent uncounted \
     VENDOR_STRING="Not Used" HOSTID=00248c4d5653 ISSUER="Texas \
     Instruments Inc." \
     SN=CustomFID_8B55B3F0_E569_11DE_B147_B143E7A73529 \
     START=9-dec-2009 TS_OK SIGN="003F 81B9 1F42 D58E 2010 9705 \
     0BAE B300 642A 376F 414E 0DDB A1BC 2435 0291"

    Michael.

  • Michael,

    The platinum download doesn't actually have the code size limited option.  Currently the license that you are using is a "connection" limited license.  We could do a better job in our license dialog to make this more obvious.  This license won't let you use an XDS510 or XDS560.

    To use the code size limited tools you actually need to download the MCU Core version of CCS.  We have two different download images, the MCU core one which contains the code size limited tools (automatically creates a license) and the DVD image which has tools with no code-size limit and supports all other license types.

    Please try downloading the Code size limited version here: http://tiexpressdsp.com/index.php/Download_CCS

    It is called Microcontroller Core (code size limited) on the page.  Fortunately it is smaller than the other image.

    John

  • John,

    I'll download code-size limited  image in several days and try to use it with my license file. Thanks for help.

    Michael.

  • John,

    It's me again.

    Will my old license, which i've got to Platinum CCSv4, work on MicroController edition? Can i work with sau510 emulator with this license?

    With free license included in CCSv4 microcontroller i cannot work with my emulator.

    When i tried to register from CCSv4 MicroController edition, it says me what i used my Activation ID for Platinum. Have I to manage license from platinum to MCcore someway?

    And the most interesting question to me, can i work with any free license with CCSv4 and sau510?

    Regards,

    Michael.

  • Michael,

    I am not sure that a sau510 will work at all with CCS4.  Who is the manufacturer?  Technically a 510 emulator should work with the free code size limited license or the time limited license.

    The MCU core edition should not prompt to register at all.  It creates a license file on install.  I think what is happening is that the emulator you are using just is not compatible with v4 and it is causing license dialogs to pop up.

    As far as what license will work with which CCS image the answer is that all licenses will work with any image.  We have 2 CCS images.  The DVD image which is used for all purchased CCS licenses (Platinum or MCU), the free XDS100 license and the time limited licenses and we have the MCU core image which has code size limited linkers in it for 28x and MSP430.

    Regards,

    John
