Hi Ryan,
do you have a user account with special characters? If so, which seems might be the case, this is likely the issue.
I would clear the installations, including logs. Try again with the full offline installer and antivirus disabled. If possible with a different simple user account.
Please keep us informed.\

Is this seriously the only answer? Its a corporate computer on a domain and I don't have the option of changing my user name or creating a new one. My user name has a period in it like first.last. The installer can't handle that? Someone should definitely fix that.
I remember having this problem with Xilinx and spaces in the file name. Never again did I use the "My Documents" folder or put spaces in a file name.
Hi Ryan,
actually ... it may be due to something we just discovered with a JAVA environment variable.
One thing to try is to set JAVA_TOOL_OPTIONS to blank. Could you try that while doing the install?

Hi Ryan,
have you removed egit? You would need to do this in order to avoid hitting the same issue again. As mentioned, you issue is being caused due to there being a newer egit version on your pc compared to that packaged with ccs.
Best Regards,
Lisa
I uninstalled egit from my existing installation of CCS. It made no difference. I can not remove it from my existing instance of Eclipse but you shouldn't be checking it anyways. Seeing as you don't know where it is, I don't see how you could be looking for it or checking the version to begin with so I can't see how that instance could cause any problems.
Hi Ryan,
it is actually the issue. The newer version being there. It is actually not our installer doing any checks at all, but the eclipse P2 installer we rely on.
Unfortunately, unless the version is removed, you will likely not be able to install ccs. You could try putting the newer version back after.

Lisa
Well where is it putting eget then? I never "installed" Eclipse, I just unzip the folder to the C drive. How could the "P2 installer we rely on" know where to find eget if I can put it ANYWHERE on my HD? It certainly isn't taking the time to check, it fails immediately. Even if I rename the Eclipse (which isn't a required name) directory foo it still fails.
Hi Ryan,
I don't know where it might be coming from. All I can tell you is the team that develops our installer had a look at your logs. their feedback was that this was a new issue to them and that the failure was due to a newer version of the egit plug in already being on your pc. We were also stumped as to where from.

Lisa
Hi Ryan,
the logs would be in the installjammer registry directory. It may be hidden and is under program files or program files(x86). If you could send those in.

Hi Ryan,
do you have any other user accounts you can use/try? I suspect the issue to be the "." in your user name. Unfortunately the installer does not like special characters in the user name.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Ryan,
I am not sure what to say. I do suspect that user account naming. Could you create one to try/verify?
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Ryan,
hmm any other pcs? Yes we are working on our installer with high priority and it used to trip over things like that all over ... actually we already made some steps to get it down to user accounts.
Best Regards,
Lisa
Hi Ryan,
ok, keep us informed. Sorry for the inconvenience. I myself seem to have a guest account but perhaps this is not an option for you. Note when ccsv6 comes out the installer is a completely overhauled one.

Lisa
