Installing XDAIS Code Composer Studio v5.4

Hi all,

I am having a similar issue to this post, and having an issue importing C2000 Launchpad projects

 http://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/241129.aspx

When I try to import the Example_F2802xLEDBlink project I get the following error.

See details below...

Unrecognized product of type 'com.ti.rtsc.XDAIS' is required by project 'Example_F2802xLEDBlink' - please install at least one product of this type before building this project.

Now I cannot see XDAIS software in the root TI folder, I do have xdc tools (3_25_00_48).  I have downloaded the latest version of XDAIS, but how do I install this into CCS?  (it's a tar compressed file which I can open but cannot see any exe file or installing instructions).

See also screen capture from CCS preference window

Cheers,

Ant

  • Hi,

Help -> Install new software; you should be able to install that package. Else..

You can go for an online update by clicking on "Check for update" and then installing XDAIS from the available list.

    Gautam

  • Hi Gautam,

Thanks for the prompt reply, I tried installing the package via install new software and in 2 ways:

Via add then find the uncompressed archive folder, but it failed to install when pointed at the folder.  Do I need to point it to a specific file?

Via the Archive option but it fails to find and does not appear to support .tar compressed files.

Also tried the options to add downloads from all sites, but cannot see anything that relates to XDAIS, can you please give me more specific instructions?

    Thanks,

    Ant

  • Hi Ant,

I'm attaching a screenshot of where XDAIS archive has to be extracted. Try that and let me know.

The best way to tackle this issue would be a fresh CCS v5.4 installation.

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Gautam,

Thanks, basically just drop the uncompressed folder into the TI root folder!

CCS detected this and installed the files, the issue with the XDAIS error has gone now, however I have another issue with the impoted project now.

I really wanted to avoid installing CCS again as have lots of projects for MSP430 and Stellaris devices already working, we are now adding the C2000 as an additional system to work with which is proving problematic for other people in the class.

Is it best to simple install everything when installing Code Composer to avoid issues like this, at the expense of using extra disk space unnecessarily?

    Thanks,

    Ant

  • Hi,

Good to know that CCS recognized XDAIS. As for your next query:

Is it best to simple install everything when installing Code Composer to avoid issues like this, at the expense of using extra disk space unnecessarily?

Depends wrt to each and every case. To be on the safer side and for uninterrupted work; it's recommended to go for complete installation that covers all the TI series. I, myself went for a custom installation for C2000 and later added MSP430 packages.

    Gautam

  • Hi,

I am trying to install xdias downloaded xdais_7_24_00_04 and kept inside of ti folder.

I am using  CCS 6.0.0.00190 . Not sure how to install this tried with the update option also seems no use
