adding stellaris to ccs 5.1

hi, I've installed ccs 5 for msp430, now I want to try programming stellaris launchpad. following the workshop guide i've the following error with the projects added by the guide:

This project was created for a device-variant that is not currently recognized: Cortex M.LM4F120H5QR. Please install the device-variant descriptor, or migrate the project to one of the supported device-variants by adjusting project properties.

how can I fix it? must I add the stellaris libraries to ccs? so how can I do it?

P.S. coul someone indicate a tutorial for programming stellaris?

Yes, you need to add Stellaris based files into your CCS. You can do it by :

Help -> Check for Updates

a couple comments here

1 - I would very strongly recommend the migration to the latest version. As ccsv5.5 is due out next week I would recommend moving to that.

2 - to add support for stellaris devices you should rerun the installer and select "repair" you should then be able to add support.

What type of license do you use? If you use the free code limited msp430 license, not this will not work for stellaris. You will either need a full license or need to switch between license types. If you are fully licensed or doing a trial license this will support both devices.

i have free license of msp430, so i have to install the free version of ccs for stellaris???!!!!!

Hi Giuseppe,

there is no free version for stellaris. Stellaris is only free to use if you are using an xds100 emulator or an evaluation kit.

If this is what you have/would like then what you need to do is

step 1

- rerun the installer (or as stated even better install the latest version!)

- ensure you have both msp and stellaris support

step 2

- decide ... do you want two installations in parallel for the two license types (assuming you can use the xds100/evm free limited license)

- if the above is true but you want one installation, you need to switch between license types via Help->Code Composer Studio licensing information->Upgrade tab .. and then "launch license setup"

Otherwise a full license will work in both cases with no limitations.
