Cannot edit code in ccs 5.4

I done this in the last post and It didn't show up. Yes I uninstalled ccs and reinstalled it. One more try.

At your screenshot there is not any file which is opened for editing. Try open any file (for example readme.txt through double left click).

Ok, are you saying I have to open a file in the upper left of the screen in project explorer? If that's the case , which one do I open? I don't see a C or C++ folder to put code into. How can I make this file open automatically every time I open a project and start a new project? I have been programming on diff devices for a while and I'm used to the editor being opened automatically . I mean what else would I be doing at this point....?

Hi!

CCS saves your last configuration for your workspace when you exit from CCS IDE. If you exit from CCS when all project files are closed then if you run CCS again these file will be closed. If you exit from CCS when any files are opened for editing then if you run CCS again these files will be opened automatically.

Ok, which file do I click to open the editor ?

Any file. For example readme.txt  or lnk_msp.....cmd on your screenshot (left double click of mouse on file).

Ok, I can type C code in the readme .txt and it will compile fine ?

Stop. For C coding:

Open new CCS project (for example "with main" template). You will get project with main.c file. You can add your code into this file and compile it. I would recommend you this link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/C2000_Getting_Started_with_Code_Composer_Studio_v5

Ok I think I see what I'm doing wrong now. I was going by the online tutorials . The man in the tutorials made a empty project and when it opened he just pasted his code into the editor window. My empty project at start has no files what so ever to edit , so I have to make my own header files and C file. So the tutorials Iv bee watching dont work for my version of ccs. I see now...
