where can I find the Activation ID?

I received TI's FET430F6137RF900 package this week. The CD I have received with the package seems not new and contains CCSv4 (not CCSv5). I downloaded and installed CCSv5. But when I start the CCSv5, it asks me to provide the activation file. How can I get the licence file for the CCSv5?

    great you are trying ccs and have downloaded the latest!

    Could you send a screen capture?  Normally you should be asked for a license type ...  

    What type of license are you looking for?  Trial?  Full?  Code size limited?

    Hi Lisa,

    For the time being, I started working with the trial version of CCSv5 (for 90 days). But I want to make it Full version. The problem is now I have the licence file only for the CCSv4 (which I received with the CD) not for the CCSv5. How can I get the licence file (activation code) for the CCSv5? is it possible to update the licence of CCSv4 to CCSv5? or do I need to buy a licence for the CCSv5?

    Here is the screen shots:

    when I try to provide (use) the licence file for the CCSv4, It gave me some error message (something like the licence is invalid) at first;but later when I provide the file again, it happens nothing.

    When I press register, it takes me to the following page where i am requested to fill in activation code. How can I get my activation code?

    I would like to have the full version of CCSv5 but I need a licence file for it. How I can get the licence file for the CCSv5? I already have the licence file for the CCSv4 (which I received with the CD) but not for the CCSv5 (which I have downloaded and installed). Is it possible to upgrade the licence of CCSv4 to CCSv5? How can I upgrade it?

    Hi,

     

    Upgrading to CCSv5

    There are 2 CCSv5 releases.  CCSv5.0 and CCSv5.1 (5.1, 5.2...).  CCSv5.0 is an early release of CCSv5 that targets a specific set of devices and uses. As a result it is not a replacement for CCSv4. CCSv5.1 is the replacement for CCSv4. As CCSv5.0 is really a complement to CCSv4 it is possible to use your CCSv4 license with CCSv5.0. CCSv5.1 requires a CCSv5 license as it is a replacement for CCSv4. Note that you can use a CCSv5 license with CCSv4. If your purchase CCS and receive CCSv5 but want to use CCSv4 instead you can download CCSv4 and use your CCSv5 license with it.

    Hi Gebre,

    I do not believe the hardware kits come with a ccs license.  You either need to use the code size limited license or purchase one.   Upon purchase you get an activation ID.    To use the code size limited go to Help->Code composer studio licensing information->upgrade tab and "launch license setup".  You should see the special msp430 code size limited option there.

    I would use the latest version (v5 very soon to be v5.5) as there are many upgrades and bug fixes.
