Debug DSP side of a DSPLINK application on EXPKITOmapl138 using CCS 5.4.0

Hi,

I am following the http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Debugging_the_DSP_side_of_a_DSPLink_application_on_OMAP-L138_using_CCS to debug the message sample. I got stuck when I use the CCS to connect the target. When I click "connect the target", the ARM restarts at the same time and the ccs shows "No source for available for 0x80000000". I tried to load symbols, but nothing happened. It still shows "No source for available for 0x80000000".

I am using CCS 5.4.0, dsplink 1.65.01.05_eng, dsp/bios 5.42.1.09. I use the NFS to boot from Linux on virtualbox, and the CCS is in the Windows.

Please give me some help! Thanks a lot!

  • Hi,

I've experienced this too... Try creating a new workspace and loading the existing project from there!

  • Thanks for your reply. Do you mean copy the ccxml file, message.out and other source files to the new workspace, then load from them there?

And according to the DSPLINK INSTALLATION GUIDE, the EVM should be configured to use DSP self-boot mode. But I don't know how to do that... Does it means setting the dspwake=no in the U-BOOT configuration? I am new to the TI chips, so these questions may seem stupid...

BTW, where is the "set PC to cursor" in CCS 5.4.0? I cannot find it...

    Thanks again.

The "No source available" message in itself is not an issue. You will find several other threads in the forum with people asking similar messages. This is one of them that has an explanation.

Regarding configuring the EVM to use DSP self-boot mode, such questions will be better answered in the OMAPL138 device forum. In fact they might be able to provide better assistance with details of debugging a DSPLINK application as well, so please start a new post in that device forum.
