Emulation drivers ain't installing....

Hi,

I'm trying to connect CCS V3.3 with my DM6437 board on Windows 7, but every time I try to connect it, the following error pops up.

I/O Port = 540

Board Name: EVM DM6437
Cpu Name: CPU_1

Abort:        Close Code Composer Studio.
Retry:        Try to initialize the emulator again.
Ignore:        Ignore the initialization error and start
        potentially without target debugging access.
Diagnostic:    Run diagnostic utility.

when I ignore it, it just won't connect to the Board.

when I click on Diagnostic following dialog box appears:

Diagnostic Utility: "" failed to load

what should I do now?

Hi,

Is there any possibility to update your CCS to the latest version CCS v5.5 ? Atleast install it on a different directory and check.

Arslan, I doubt you will manage to make CCSv3 work under Windows 7. You can either try CCSv5 or run your CCSv3 inside Windows XP virtual machine.

Actually i've already tried installing it on a different directory and then trying to connect the board but the problem still persists.

Maciej,

Actually i already did set up another DaVinci board on other workstation with Windows 7, a long time ago but now i'm working on a project related to network stream of encoded video (Involving two DM6437 boards). For that purpose, now i'm installing CCS on another Workstation, and setting up another standalone environment, but this emulation driver problem is not going away.

So what I would suggest you is:

1. Check for any over-heating components on the board

2. Check for voltage levels at certain points on boards

In short, check the health of the board.

What version of Windows 7 are you using? Do you have signed drivers enforcement disabled?

The board works fine when connected with other PC.

Its Service Pack 1 of Windows 7 32-bit. Well let me check on signed drivers enforcement, perhaps it'll help solve the problem.

Hi,

Did you try with all the available usb ports? Also try disabling the antivirus, firewall...and check!

If "signed drivers enforcement" solves your issue then well and good.

Arslan,

You are using the on-board XDS510USB emulation on the EVM, correct? If this is the Spectrum Digital board, did you try running the diagnostic utility that comes with the board? It may give some more clues.

As others mentioned CCSv3 + WIN7 support is pretty hit and miss. There is not much support we can provide unfortunately.
