  • David,

From the log it looks like you could be hitting a variation of the NVidia Optimus problem that was reported with the v5.4. There is a workaround in place for that issue in v5.5 that has been tested by others that originally reported the problem. Perhaps you are running into something related but slightly different.

Could you confirm whether you are using a laptop which using an NVidia video control and which implements NVidia's Optimus technology? You can view some of the controller details by right clicking on "my computer", selecting properties, open the device manager, and select the display adapter node. If you see both an NVidia controller and an Intel controller, you likely have one of the configurations that was previously causing problems.

  • Andy,

I'm on a recent model (i.e., possessed of/by Win8 - ugh) Asus laptop; Device Manager shows only "Intel HD Graphics 4000" under display adapters; I am using an additional monitor via VGA.

Do let me know if you'd like me to root around for additional info,

    David

  • David,

It must be a different problem. Would you be able to run this installer by itself and let me know if it completes OK?  You can select a temporary folder to install to and delete the contents afterwards (IE, no unexpected Windows dialogs, error dialogs, etc)?

  •  Andy,

Sorry for the delay. Yes, it ran without apparent problem.

    Now what?
