error to connect to the target CCS v5 with H63C2 Experimenter Kit XDS100v2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: F28M36P63C2

Hello!

I have a Experimenter kit H63C2 (controlCARD and Dock Station) with F28M36P63C2 and I use the XDS100v2.

I have a problem with a Hello World (and other examples). When I debug the program appears an error. the error it's the next one:

Error connecting to the target:
(Error -2131 @ 0x0)
Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK).
(Emulation package 5.1.232.0)

after the error appears another window that said "Unable to connect to the target"

the console shows this

Cortex_M3_0: GEL Output: Memory Map Initialization Complete
IcePick_C_0: Error connecting to the target: (Error -2131 @ 0x0) Unable to access device register. Reset the device, and retry the operation. If error persists, confirm configuration, power-cycle the board, and/or try more reliable JTAG settings (e.g. lower TCLK). (Emulation package 5.1.232.0)

When i did a a test connection show me this:

[Start]

Execute the command:

%ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -rv -o -F inform,logfile=yes -S pathlength -S integrity

[Result]

The JTAG DR Integrity scan-test has failed.

I don't found the solution.

Than you very much for the solution.

  • Hi,

The JTAG DR Integrity scan-test has failed.

Your PC is not able to communicate with the XDS100. This can happen due to 2 issues:

    1. Driver conflict

    2. Some problem with XDS100

So please check your device manager, uninstall and install the XDS drivers. Also, you can try for a fresh CCS installation on a different directory.

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Hi Gautam!

For the first answer I look for in Control Panel>> Device Administration>> I check the Driver and is correct

    TI XDS100 Channel A

    TI XDS100 Channel B

The LED A:D2 it's turn on (colour green) that indicate function normally

I try to uninstall CCS, and Install this in a different directory. Thank you!

  • Sure, Julio and do revert if you face any further issues.

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Hi!

I prove to install CCsv5 in a different directory but the problem follow!

about 5 months the examples function correctly, during this time i didn't nothing but yesterday to connect the Board to prove the example appears that error. it's possible a internal hardware problem of emulator?

    dust its' a posible factor?

I don't find any other solution

  • Julio,

The details you provided indicate the emulator is not able to receive any data from the device (the emulator seems fine and is being properly recognized). This may be a problem of power to the device.

    A few details:

    - In addition to LED A:D2 (which indicates the emulator is powered up), you should see LED D3 lit as well, which indicates the device is powered up;

    - Check switch A:SW1 position1 - it must be ON to allow the JTAG signals to connect to the F28M36 device;

    - If you are connecting only one USB cable to the A:J1 connector, that will not power the F28M36 (the XDS100v2 emulator is galvanically isolated from the rest of the board). In this case you must either connect another USB cable to J9 or power the F28M36 through the dock card (either via USB or the 5V power jack)

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi!

When in connect the emulator The Led A:D2 turns on with colour green, function correctly.

The LED D3 also its turn on in colour green that's indicate de controlBOARD it's correctly alimentation (A cable USB for J9)

The switch A:SW1 it's in position ON (ISO JTAG and ISO UART)

Even so when I do a TEST CONNECTION indicate that i have posted before,

I sure that's it's an error of comunnication between Emulator and device!

If all it's correct why don't function, it's very very strange

  • Julio,

The logs indicate the JTAG data paths are grounded (stuck at zero).

I got the exact same thing if I leave A:SW1 position 1 OFF. Since you confirmed it is on, I wonder if there is an additional problem with the board itself.

So, just to illustrate the possible scenarios to connect this board.

A:SW1:1 must be ON if you are connecting your board like this:

A:SW1:1 must be OFF if you are connecting your board like this:

    Or this:

    Or this:

If everything matches, I am afraid that either the emulator or the controlCARD has a hardware failure. In this case I suggest checking with the experts in the C2000 device forum.

    Rafael

  • Hi desouza!

Just I have the first one image, I checked de A:SW1 and both JTAG and UART are ON, but the problem follow there!

Yes, I think thats's it's problem either emulator or controlCARD, anyhow I will ask at C2000 device forum!

    Thank you for all desouza!

  • Hi desouza!

One observation I see, it's that when I connect J9, the led D3 turn on (colour green) that's it's normally but also turn on the Led D2 (colour red) and after 5 minutes the led D2 turns off , this  behavior it's normally? I suppose that no!

When the Led D1 it's turn off, if I press the key Capital letter the led D1 turns on and when I press again the capital letter the led D1 turn on, and so on and so forht.

This behaviour it's normally? I think that the controlBOARD has a hardware problem I  asked at C2000 forum!

    Thank you for all!
