CCS 5.5 Image-Upload/Debug fail

Hello,

I try to load an image to the F28M36 (M3 part only).

However the the image (Compile/Link: no Warnings; no Error) can not be uploaded or debugged.

Following Error message is shown:
Cortex_M3_0: GEL Output: Memory Map Initialization Complete
IcePick_C_0: Error connecting to the target: (Error -233 @ 0x0)
The JTAG IR and DR scan-paths cannot circulate bits, they may be broken.
An attempt to scan the JTAG scan-path has failed.
The target's JTAG scan-path appears to be broken with a stuck-at-ones or
stuck-at-zero fault. (Emulation package 5.1.232.0)

Used Components and Configuration:

TMDXDOCK18M36
F28M36x controlCard R1.1
CCS: Version: 5.5.0.00077
Texas Instruments XDS100v3 USB Emulator

Can anybody help on this issue?

Thanks
Werner

This is a pretty bad error. Basically it is telling you that the JTAG scan chain is broken on the device. The debugger could not successfully circulate bits on the scan chain. Hence it is unable to establish any communication with the device. This is usually a hardware issue and not a tools issue. Try either using a different emulator or using the same emulator with a different target to determine which piece of hardware is to blame.

  • Hi Ki,

    thanks for the fast response.

    No good news!

I did already try an different emulator with the same result.

So, I have to change the 'F28M36x controlCard' !

    Thanks again.

    Best regards
