second floating license file

Hello,

I´m using CCSv5.4 with a 1 User floating license on two different machines (PC or Notebook). Now another colleague also wants to work with CCS, we are thinking of buying a second 1 User floating license, so he can use his own PC/Notebook and we can use CCS at the same time. But how can we setup the FlexLM to use two individual 1-User floating licenses?

that describes the procedure, but it´s still not clear to me, because in steps 7-10 I see no place that would allow to enter the name/path/server of the second lic.-file ?

Maybe I have a misunderstanding here...

Hi Stefan,

you can simply give the other license file to the server. It is repeating the last part of what you did the first time and then you need to restart things.

What specifically is not clear to you? Are you using the gui?

Hi Lisa,

I think we are using the Gui, not the Browser. (Info from our IT-support guy: Browser didn´t work properly, so he continued with LMTOOLS which is more familiar to him..)

Hi Stefan,

can you send details of the steps taken.

We only have the GUI/browser experience here as we are not particular flex net experts. You should be able to simply add the file and restart everything.

Hi Lisa,

we have an update: I suggested to go directly for 3-user-license instead of just an additional 1-user-license.

The idea for the remaining 1-user-floating-license that we already have, is then to use this license locally on a Notebook, so that it works without a dedicated server, i.e. if debugging/bug-fixing should become necessary in our customers location. To do this I would simply add the .lic file under

CCS -> Help -> Licensing Information -> Manage -> Add

Would this work with a floating License?

unfortunately, no that will not work. A floating licence requires a server.

what if I run the FlexLMmanager (lmtools.exe?) on the same Notebook as described in http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/License_Server_Administration_for_CCS#Q:_Can_I_run_CCS_on_the_same_machine_that_is_running_the_license_server.3F

(A: Yes. One way to achieve this is to edit the first line of the licenselocation.txt file to read @localhost as described in Advanced license configurations)

Hi Stefan,

yes, of course you can have ccs and the server on the same pc. There would then not be very much difference to a node locked license, but sure you could have that setup.
