CCE: "Failed to initialize the Debug Server" error message

Hello,

 

I bought a eZ430-F2013 few days ago and installed it on 2 PCs. On the first PC all is OK. On the second one the following error message appears when launching "debug active Project" in CCE.

Exception occured during launch

Reason: Failed to initialize the Debug Server

Reason: System Setup XML File: C:/.../TargetDB/MSP430F2013_TIMSP430-USB.xml contains invalid characters: 'e

 

History of the installation:

1/ installed CCS V4 

2/ installed "eZ430-F2013" hardware

--> then CCS reported the error above

3/ uninstalled CCS V4

4/ installed CCE V3.1

--> then CCE reported same error above

 

I had a look at the XML file specified in the error message and didn't find the 'e character that seems to create the error.

In the Device manager, I can see the "Port (COM LPT)" > "MSP-FET430UIF-VCP(COM10)" so apparently the hardware installation is OK.

I'm beginner with CCE and MSP430. Do you have any idea of what could be the root cause of this issue.

    Chris,

    If you open that xml file in CCS does it report an error?  The file should be shown in your project.  Curious if it has a red X on it when you open it.

    If you attach the file to the post I can try it with my CCS install and also compare it with my own version of the file.

    Chris,

    There is one known issue where CCE/CCS would generate this error if the path to your workspace contains any accented/non-ASCII characters.

    What do you have selected as the path for your workspace? Could you try a simple different path for your workspace and see if the error goes away?

    Thanks for your fast feedback. Unfortunately I don't have access now to the computer that have the problem. I'll have access to this computer tomorrow. I'll then try your suggestions and will let you know.

    Thanks for your feedback. As explained to Aarti, I don't have acces to the computer that have the problem today. I'll have tomorrow. I'll then try your suggestions. In the meantime I attached the xml file that I saved yesterday on my usb key.

    Aarti,

     

    I had a look to the worspace path and effectivley you are right there is a special character : .../HP_Propriétaire/.../workspace.

    I changed the path of the workspace and all is OK now. The problem disaperared.

    HI, I have the EZ430-CC2500 KIT, and I am having a similar issue. The above resolution does not work for me, as I don't have a special character in my directory to my workspace for my CCE. Any help is greatly appreciated.  Version: CCE v3.1   Build: 3.2.3.6.4

     

    C:\Documents and Settings\s12345\Desktop\Folder 1\Embedded\Project\Project Files\CCE_Workspace

    Hi ,

    I am trying to build Bluetopia Samples for MSP430 but unable to get the configuration or set up . i am new to Bluetopia Stack . Can anyone tell me how to compile/build Bluetopia with CCS tool for MSP430 .
