Problem connecting CCSv5.4 to target EVMK2X

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCI6638K2K, UNIFLASH

Hi All,

We have recently received TCI6638EVMK2X board from TI. I could able to access the consoles(both TCI6638 and BMC) from Teraterm. But I couldnot able to connect to the target board from my CCSv5.4. I am getting below error with Test Connection.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Start]

Execute the command:

%ccs_base%/common/uscif/dbgjtag -f %boarddatafile% -r -o -S pathlength -S integrity

[Result]

E_RPCENV_IO_ERROR(-6) No connection: DTC_IO_Open::dtc_io
Failed to open i/o connection (xds2xxu:0)

An error occurred while soft opening the controller.

-----[An error has occurred and this utility has aborted]--------------------

This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

The value is '-250' (0xffffff06).
The title is 'SC_ERR_ECOM_EMUNAME'.

The explanation is:
An attempt to access the named emulator via USCIF ECOM has failed.

[End]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As per the user guide, I have chosen the correct target configuration, TI XDS2xx USB Emulator_0->TCI6638K2K and loaded xtcievmk2x GEL file. I have configured the board in JTAG mode but could not able to make a connection with target from CCS.

I have tried with other configurations, modes and GEL files but I get the same above error always. Could anyone help me solving this issue? Are there any points I am missing or to lookout for?

Thanks

kg

  • Hi Kiran,

In Test Configuration, did you check with Test Connection (for JTAG Integrity Check). Let me know the results, also please try with CCS Uniflash.

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • CCS could not communicate with the emulator. I assume it is an XDS200. Is this an external emulator on an on-board one?

Is the user's guide available on-line somewhere? I'd like to see it.

    Thanks

  • Hi Gautam,

Thanks for replying to my post.

Actually, the root cause of this problem is loading of drivers in windows. For the first time, the drivers for XDS JTAG were automatically loaded and my connection was detected. Then when I disconnect and connect, windows was not able to detect the connection. Windows is treating this as a legacy device and not loading the drivers automatically.

When I manually installed the drivers from Device Manager by selecting this as a legacy hardware device, windows started detecting the board every time.

    Thanks.

    Girmaji.

  • Good to know that your hardware has been detected.

Good luck and have a nice day.

    Regards,

    Gautam
