Downgrade license for CodeComposer 5

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CODECOMPOSER

Hi,

we have small projects going on that shall use a code size limited license of CodeComposer version 5. We also have big projects every now and then and use a floating license for them.

Is there a way to switch the license type of a code composer installation between "code size limited" and "floating" as needed or is the upgrade to a floating license a one way operation?

Thanks for any help,

Bernhard

  • Hi BB,

Why don't you install 2 CCS at different locations? This will not only isolate your projects but as well the licensing.Yes, necessary disk space would be utilized but then its all for good.

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Hi Bernhard,

you can do as Gautam suggests.  Otherwise you can manually go to Help->Code Composer Studio Licensing Information and in the upgrade tab select "Launch License Setup".

I would make sure you record your server information/setup first!

  • Hi Lisa,

I tried the way you described, already. Once I have configured Code Composer Studio to use a floating license, I can not choose the code size limited license option to generate a license any more (which seems to make sense). And I have no license file for a code size limited license from the time before I chose the floating license, to which I could switch.

Maybe, when I update my not quite current version of Code Composer Studio, I will try getting a code size limited license file first and then try to switch between it and the floating license. Thank you for your help on that issue.

I am currently using Code Composer Studio version 5.3.0.00090, which is not the latest release, as I am aware.

Gautam, thank you for your advice as well, but using more than one computer for my work is not an option.

    Best regards,

    Bernhard

  • Hi Bernhard,

Gautam, thank you for your advice as well, but using more than one computer for my work is not an option.

I'm not asking you to use 2 computers, I'm asking you to install CCS at 2 different locations ie at

    1. c:\ti

    2. c:\tinew

So, you'll have two CCS.exe and their respective licenses and workspaces!

    Regards,

    Gautam

  • Hi Bernhard,

ok, please keep us informed.  I would strongly recommend upgrading to the latest version.  And Gautam is correct, another option is to keep 2 parallel installations on one pc.

    Lisa

  • Hi Bernhard,

just thought I would check for any updates with your enquiry.
