CCSv5 Linux instal, legacy device, TMS320DM642, not present in device list for XDS510 USB emulator

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320DM642

I am running CCSv5.5.0.00077 on Linux Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I have created a new target configuration selecting the Spectrum digital XDS510 USB emulator.
However the device I want to connect to is not in the target device list, TMS320DM642.

On a Win7 installation of CCSv5 this device is listed.

Is there a way I can add this device for CCSv5 under Linux?

  • Hello,

    C641x based devices (like DM642) is not supported with XDS510 on Linux. Only XDS560/560v2. Sorry.

  • That is odd that it is available for CCSv5 running on Win7 but not for Linux. This XDS510 USB emulator is supported;

    Do you know if there is any way the DM642 could be added?

    This is expected. There are separate drivers for each emulator type for each cpu. The c641x driver for XDS560/XDS560v2 was ported to Linux. The others were not.

    Note that we (TI) has no plans to support C641x for XDS510. But for XDS510USB, Spectrum Digital has their own drivers. You can check with Spectrum Digital to see if they have any support for Linux with their XDS510USB drivers.

    Thanks
