CCS trace analyzer

Hi,

I wish to use the trace analyzer function in CCS to observe the variables but this function is not working. The software I used is the free version of CCSv4 and the emulator I chose is TI XDS100. I'm just wondering if this function is limited by CCS versions of type emulators? Please help.

The device I'm using is C2000 Piccolo Launchpad. Is this suitable for outputting to trace analyzer?

have a look here. I believe both your emulator and board are unfortunately not supported with trace. Sorry for the unpleasant news.

Thanks Lisa,

In this case, are there any other method that I can use to store my variable data to my PC? Is it possible to keep exporting data to a csv or excel file?

You can set a breakpoint after the variable of interest is written to and modify the breakpoint properties to write the data to a file instead of halting the program when the breakpoint is hit.

In summary:
- Set a breakpoint at a line of code after the variable of interest has been written to/updated
- In the breakpoint view, right-click on the breakpoint and go to Breakpoint Properties, set the Action to “Write Data to File”, specify the location and name of file. For Start Address, specify the name of the variable and for Length specify how many values of that data you want to collect
- Run your code
- You may need to terminate the debug session for the file to be updated.
