CodeComposer crashes during connection with BlackHawk Xds560v2

I just started experiencing this problem with CodeComposer 5.2 (and upgrading all the way up to 5.5). At some point while connecting to a target with a BlackHawk XDS560v2 System Trace, CodeComposer crashes. I am not connecting to an EVM, but a custom board (again, this just recently started happening, I have been using this setup for many months without issue).

I am able to run the Test Connection diagnostic inside of the Target Configuration--all scan tests appear to be passing.

Reviewing the debug server log, it seems like the hang occurs after the call to dsIResetControl::CapableHaltOnReset(). It hangs there for a minute or two, and then finally crashes.

I have attached the log (test.log) and crash dump file (DebugServer20140116002016.dmp). Beyond that, I'm sort of at a loss as to what other information I can provide.

Hi Matthew,

would you be willing to try a full fresh installation of v5.5? I am wondering if all the updating (with which we've seen issues) has corrupted your installation.

I would manually clear out ccs and try a fresh installation to a new directory with the full installer. Please keep us informed.

Well, uninstalling everything (including the BlackHawk drivers), and reinstalling CCS 5.5 a second time seemed to do the trick.

Unfortunately, that tool doesn't look like it'd be compatible with my board set. Thanks for the suggestion though.

By the way, if anyone is having problems with CodeComposer (or the with DebugServer Scripting) in conjunction with the BlackHawk Xds560v2 System Trace, try temporarily renaming the following directory:

C:\ti\ccsv5\ccs_base\emulation\analysis

to something like:

C:\ti\ccsv5\ccs_base\emulation\__analysis

I've seen crashes associated with the analysis capabilities of CodeComposer. You will still be able to load programs and step through your code. Only the advanced SystemTrace features will be unavailable.
