CCS 5.5 install issue on windows 7 64-bit

hi

1. I'm using windows 7 64-bit.

2. I installed CCS5.1 before, and then I installed ccsv4 at the same time.

3. to install CCS5.5 I uninstall CCS5.1, but uninstall CCS5.1 didn't compete successfully, so I manually delete the c:\ti\ccs5\ folder.

4. then I unzip the ccs_setup_5.5.0.00077 and run it, I failed a lot of times. there are mainly 2 types.

4.1 I can see the ccs_setup_5.5.0.00077.exe in windows task manager, but no anything show up in windows, no matter how long I wait.

4.2 I can start to install, but when installing it, I meet a lot of install program "(Not Responding)" issue. it can occur any where, unzip, eclipse exec some cmd line command, and so on. here is one example

4.2.1 see the attached log2287.ccs_setup_5.5.0.00077_install.log

4.2.2 I can see the unzip.exe in windows task manager, but it just stay there, do nothing.

4.2.3 I execed the command under command line, "c:/temp/Local/Temp/ijtmp_F53AE207-B4B5-48CF-9501-9394CAB14E86/unzip.exe" -q -o -d "C:/ti/ccsv5" "C:/temp/CCS5.5.0.00077_win32/baserepo/utils.zip"  it works, but don't know why the install program didn't work well.

4.2.4 I've changed my TMP, TEMP folder to c:\temp\local\temp

4.2.5. I've renamed all my unzip.exe to other name, so the unzip is from the install program.

I don't know what else I can do to install it. Please give me a hand. maybe remote debug? I'm in TI shanghai office, fortune tower.

  • Hi,

There can be couple of issues:

    1. CCS Setup might be corrupted/ not downloaded completely.

    2. Secondly, try running the setup by clicking on"Run As Administrator"

  • hi Gautam,

    Thanks for quick replay.

    1. I'm using offline installer, md5 is

    1a2d65e3a69f892b69fa9679c7833e14  CCS5.5.0.00077_win32.zip

    2. I always run it with Administrator, but it didn't work.

  • hi guys,

Any suggestions will be appreciate!! I can even help debug it.

I hate the idea of install a VM and install the CCS inside the VM. :(

This is what I'm trying to tell you, there's a possibility that the offline zip file/exe file might be corrupted. This happens a lot of times. So, try downloading the offline setup again.

Also, if you've copied the zip file from TI internal server then you'll have to figure out the quality. Other than this only your antivirus or firewall would attempt to interrupt the ccs setup.

  • Shawn,

I haven't seen this specific issue before. However, I see you are an internal TI user. I did run into an issue recently with a Symantec update install stuck running in the background and which was causing other processes on the PC to hang. Could you have a look at the Windows process list and see if you notice an other install processes running (look for MSIExec, for example).  Also, have you rebooted your PC recently? If not, could you reboot your PC, delete the contents of the C:\ti folder, and re-run the installer? Let us know how that goes.
