The 3rd beta release of CCSv6 is now available.  More details on CCS v6 and the download link are available on the wiki site: http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Category:Code_Composer_Studio_v6

Highlights:

  • Eclipse update (Eclipse 4.3 and CDT 8.2)
  • CCS App Center (facility for access additional features and "Ware" packages from CCS).
  • Ability to import and debug Energia projects
  • GCC for MSP430
  • ITM (Instrumentation Trace Module on Cortex M) improvements.
  • Many fixes and enhancements

  • That's great news.

I tried out the linux version but after the install eclipse/ccstudio is empty for some reason, is this a know problem or am I doing something wrong on the install?

    My uname: Linux 3.8.0-35-generic #50~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 4 17:25:51 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

    Cheers,

  • The hardware and system requirements are already defined for CCSv6?

    Thanks

  • Johannes,

The system requirements are being finalized but they are very similar to CCSv5.  Here is a draft cut from the CCSv6 Quick Start Guide.

    System Requirements

These operating platform requirements are necessary to install the Code Composer Studio Integrated Development Environment:

    Minimum

    • 1.0 GHz  x86 compatible processor
    • 2 GB of RAM
    • 400 MB of free hard disk space (minimal custom installation)

    Recommended

    • Dual-core x86 compatible processor
    • 4 GB of RAM
    • 2 GB of free hard disk space

    Supported Operating Systems

    Regards,

    John

  • For the installation of ccsv6 on Linux, is there a projected date for doing the installation such that just the plugins are installed into an existing Eclipse installation?  I ask because I am currently running the Kepler release of Eclipse, and would like to integrate CCS into that instead of having yet another version of Eclipse on my system.

The first window of the Code Composer Studio v6 Setup screen gives me the option to select the directory to install it in, which works just fine.  It has the box and tag for "Install CCS plugins into an existing Eclipse installation", but I am unable to place a check mark in that box.  I can with ccsv5, although it won't actually install into my Kepler Eclipse because ccsv5 won't tolerate anything newer than Eclipse v3.x.  ccsv6 won't let me get to the point where it checks to see what version of Eclipse I have, because I can't actually check that I want it to install into an existing Eclipse.

I am attempting to do this install with Beta 3, 6.0.0.00116.

  • Scott,

We have been running into some trouble with this.  Right now the plan is for that option to disappear in 6.0 and then once we get it working properly for it to come back in 6.0.1 or 6.1.0 (depending on how quickly we can resolve it).  One issue to watch out for even when we bring this back is that the backend of CCS is 32bit so the JRE we run is also 32bit.
