Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO
Failed to install under Windows 8 after 4 tries. Tried right-click to install as administrator, and install to a new directory. Any other suggestions??
Thanks.

The install seems to be failing in a different place each time. I suspect there are issues with downloading parts of the install and a problem appears at different points depending on how far the download got. It might be best to download the large zip file and use that for the install.
Thanks. I am downloading the file now and will try it when it finishes.
Mike
I downloaded the offline installer, uninstalled the previous non-working version, deleted the folders containing previous files, unzipped the offline installer, and then ran the ccs_setup_5.5.0.00077.exe file as administrator.
The installation failed again (attempt #6) after about 35% on the progress bar. Got the message:
Installer failed to install com.ti.ccstudio.msp430.emu.win32 correctly. The 2 most common reasons for failure are:
1. Anti-virus on your computer could have impeded the executable.
2. Download is corrupted.
Then the messages references the attached log file for more information.
Hi Michael,
could you please also attach the file C:/ti/CCS5/ccsv5/install_logs/ti_msp430pack_setup_5.5.0.17_install.log?
Thanks,
Bob
Michael,
the error arises during the driver installation and is generated by the operating system detection.
A workaround for the installation:
- Install with the normal settings, but disable MSP430 USB FET in the "Select Emulators" window:
- The CCS installation should now complete normally
- Download MSP430 Drivers Package here:
http://software-dl.ti.com/msp430/msp430_public_sw/mcu/msp430/MSP430_FET_Drivers/latest/index_FDS.html
- Install the software anywhere on your disk. It uses a different kind of operating system detection for installing the drivers. The installation of CCS and the MSP emulator software is now complete.

Bob
Bob,
Thanks...I'll try that next.
On the Windows 8 vs. 32-bit question, I did not see an option to select one vs. the other. Is that an issue that should be addressed before installing without the MSP430 USB FET drivers?
Mike
Mike,
the 32/64-bit question is not user-selectable. The installer contains the logic for selecting the platform, which seems to be the issue. Installing the MSP430 Drivers with the alternative installer package should solve the issue.

Bob
Bob,
That worked - thanks!
I downloaded and ran the Drivers Package too, but am having trouble getting CCS to recognize the MSP430. The target configuration does not have an MSP430 option. Any suggestions?
Thanks again
Mike
Mike,
it looks like the USB connection files are missing, this should be easy to resolve. I am attaching a zip file containing three XML files. Just extract these three files into the folder ccs_base\common\targetdb\connections of your CCS installation. After a restart of CCS the target configuration should recognize the MSP430 emulator.
Best Regards,
Bob
