Using the MSP-FET430UIF on CCE V3 after installing CCS V4

I recently installed CCS V4. I have legacy projects in both CCE V3 as well as IAR Workbench V5. After upgrading, I cannot use my MSP-FET430UIF. I get a

"failed to initialize device" in IAR

and

"An exception occurred! Type:RuntimeException,.....entity could not be opened. ID=...TIMSP430-USB.xml" in CCE.

I've tried uninstalling the serial drivers and using the IAR or CCE and still get the same errors. I'm not as concerned with the CCE problem, but I have a licensed version of IAR Workbench and need this to work. Has anyone run into this problem before and how did you solve it. Any help is appreciated.

    Nick,

    Try backing up the msp430.dll in IAR Workbench and copy in the one from CCSv4.  The CCSv4 version of the file is in \ccsv4\DebugServer\Drivers

    Hi,

    I don't understand WHY this trick really Works on CCSV4 ( 4.0.2 ) with board ez430-RF2500 ( 2008) .

    If you change the msp430.dll file version 2.4.1.4  to msp430.dll file version 2.3.3.0 you not more receive the message of CCSV4 like : - Error initializing emulator: Could not communicate with FET.

    You can work too with an IAR IDE together with CCSV4.

    I too am experiencing this same issue and love that a workaround has been discovered.  

    The trouble is, I don't have (and have looked for high and low on the Internet) the older MSP430.dll and HIL.dll

    My understanding is that I need those DLLs from slac050r.zip which contains FET_R511.exe

    Where can I find either the zip, the contained exe, or the actual dlls I seek?

    Hi,

    The DLLs are here,  from FET_R511.exe ( TI Development tool IAR eZ430 - 2008 )

    ( But, I think that you need only one dll, to CCSV4 works (Hdd:\ccsv4\DebugServer\drivers\msp430.dll))
