From the description of the files, you might want to go to menu Project --> Import CCS/CCE Eclipse Project and point to the directory of the project you downloaded.
Another alternative is to select an archive file (a compressed .ZIP file that contains a project) to add it to your workspace.
For example, if you downloaded the SLAC166M (the MSP430F541x/543x), it contains an archive file named <msp430x54x_flashwrite_04.zip> under \MSP430F543x, MSP430F541x Code Examples\Assembly (CCE)\
Simply selecting this file allows CCSv4 to recognize and import the project inside the .ZIP file.
Hope this helps,
Rafael
There's plenty of help on the CCSv4 wiki site to get you started. In the link below, I would look at the getting started guide which details step by step instructions on how to create a project.

Hi,
have a look at the CCS4 wiki side: http://wiki.msp430.com/index.php/Category:Code_Composer_Studio_v4; there's a tutorial. Another one is here in the forum: https://community.ti.com/forums/p/10747/41813.aspx#41813.

I see the post is tagged for 28035 as well. You may want to check out the C2000 getting started guide for CCSv4. It talks through importing some of the example projects for C28x devices.

I tried this. Apparantly a Project --> Open option is non-intuitive! :-O
The Eclipse recursively generated a New Project under the original New Project
I let it run about 5 minutes.
The file names got too long and now I can't even delete the recursive mess it created!!!
What a disaster. Went down 37 levels.
Eclipse sucks. [Don't agree? Just Google the phrase]
mpsgcc here I come.
Jim,
To generate this recursive project directories, can you clarify how you opened your project?
Did you do "Import Existing CCS/CCE Project" and then select a project to open, and also select "Copy Project to workspace"? Can you clarify with the name/path of your workspace and project and also how you are importing it? This should help us recreate it.
It sounds like it is copying the project folder onto itself and doing so recursively.
Hey chanbw,
You should try the 1day workshop documents (you can find it somewhere at training page..). There are step-by-step procedures to open a new project from zero.
The multi-day workshop documents are good too, but they have too much information.
