ccs update iisue

I am trying to do an update on my CCSV5, something which worked as late as end of December 2013 and now fails.

CCS Version is Version: 5.5.0.00077

Below is the error log for updating the ARM Compiler tools, all other updates give similar errors.

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

session context was:(profile=epp.package.cpp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

No repository found containing: org.eclipse.update.feature,com.ti.cgt.tms470.5.1.win32,5.1.4

No repository found containing: binary,com.ti.cgt.tms470.5.1.win32_root,5.1.4

  • Thanks for this, but doesn't answer my problem, nor did it solve the original poster's problem.

The original person has same issue I am having but said they did a manual update, I'd like to fix the issue rather than do manual updates.

I have the same settings on the proxy tab as he mentions, none of which have been changed since update last worked.

My CCS Network Connections have the following settings:

Active provider is set to Native.

There are 3 entries under Proxy entries, i.e., HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS, all of them are unchecked with Provider set to manual and Auth to false.

There are 2 entries under Proxy bypass, i.e., localhost and 127.0.0.1. Both of them are unchecked with Provider set to manual.

The original poster asked "Is there any problem with these settings?" and was simply told that's for your IT people.  Since it worked before and I changed nothing I would expect its something for TI to explain so I can then discuss with our IT people.

Additionaly if I try going to the page they specify

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_ccstudio/codegen/Updates/p2win32

I get a page not found error 404 but my browser is working fine for all other pages?

Using Internet explorer 8 as I am on XP OS and that's the latest I can use.

  • Barry,

To help us narrow this down, could you do the following:

    - Exit CCS and browse to c:\<your install dir, usuall "ti">\ccsv5\eclipse\p2\ in a windows explorer

    - In this folder, browse to org.eclipse.equinox.p2.core\ and delete the cache folder.  Also browse to org.eclipse.equinox.p2.repository\ and delete the cache folder.

    - Start CCS and go the the Help -> Install New Software dialog. In there, select "Code Generation Tools Updates" as the site to work with.

    - Can you select the specific compiler update from the list and see if you are able to install it. If you're still seeing an error, can you post the complete error text here?  Note the message box is scrollable and only a couple of lines are displayed by default.

Note you cannot browse the URL from a browser due to the security settings on the server.  There should be no  problems for CCS with using IE8 and XP.

  • Thanks for the detailed reply.

I followed these instructions and still got error, full error report is listed below:

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

    session context was:(profile=epp.package.cpp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

    No repository found containing: org.eclipse.update.feature,com.ti.cgt.tms470.5.1.win32,5.1.4

    No repository found containing: binary,com.ti.cgt.tms470.5.1.win32_root,5.1.4

Also tried compiler tools 5.08, same result

An error occurred while collecting items to be installed

    session context was:(profile=epp.package.cpp, phase=org.eclipse.equinox.internal.p2.engine.phases.Collect, operand=, action=).

    No repository found containing: org.eclipse.update.feature,com.ti.cgt.tms470.5.0.win32,5.0.8

    No repository found containing: binary,com.ti.cgt.tms470.5.0.win32_root,5.0.8

  • I eventually got this fixed by doing a complete uninstall of CCSV5 and a reinstall.

A process that took over 2 hours to complete but now does the updates correctly.

  • HI again

I think this is a real problem - and I am confident it is nothing to do with our internet connectivity. You will note Barry fixed the problem by re-installing CCS5. I am using CCS6 and still have this same problem. I followed Ti's instructions above exactly - and still got identical error reports. Here are the errors:

Can you  please find a solution that does not involve re-installing CCS?

Is it possible that the security setting on these urls (which you refered to above) are causing a problem. I don't know whether this is relevant - but I am trying to connect from Australia. Could there be a "geo-blocking" issue?

    Thanks

    Richard.

  • Richard,

I agree that resolving this sort of problem should not require reinstalling the application. Sometimes reinstalling ends up being the simplest solution when the reasons for a failure are not easily determined remotely.

For your case, let's see if we can narrow this down.  First, there should be no issues with your geographic location. This content is distributed using a 3rd party CDN which is available worldwide and has local caching.

It would be helpful to focus on a specific feature which you are trying to update.  Assuming you are trying to update to the latest C2000 compiler, could you open the Help -> "Install new software" dialog, find the "Code Generation Tools" site from the drop-down list, expand the TI Compiler tree node, and select the 16.3.0 compiler version.  Next, make sure the "contact all update sites" check box at the bottom of the dialog is un-selected.  Try to install the 16.3.0 compiler feature.

I am assuming you will get the same error as above.

Next, consider what files are actually needed to install this update. The required files are:

    software-dl.ti.com/.../content.jar

    software-dl.ti.com/.../artifacts.jar

    software-dl.ti.com/.../com.ti.cgt.c2000.16.win32_16.3.0.jar

    software-dl.ti.com/.../com.ti.cgt.c2000.16.win32_root_16.3.0

Please check these files are accessible to you from a browser.  They probably are, but best to be sure.

Please let me know the results of these two tests.
