Virtual Memory Low

Hi,

I am trying the example tutorial files (hello world and Volume) with Code composer studio V3.3 FET.  While the tutorials are in progress my PC with windows XP alarms with big beep sounds and warning message that virtual memory too low though the processing is halted.  its difficult to shut down the PC and I need to do hard setting. 

I thought its stray incident and again went ahead with other tutorial.  This time around the warning repeats even when the program is halted and also the board is disconnected.  Its amazing though why the virtual memory should go low even when the code is just "hello world" i.e., there's nothing so big to do processing.

I checked the virtual memory its 1536 MB (my computer --> advanced --> performance options) and free disk space 4 GB while the disk space on other drive is 7 GB. 

Query:

1) is there any min virtual space requirement

2) why did I get the alarm warning message

3) Whether CCS V3.3 FET needs any settings which I am missing

4) Is their anything missing in the tutorials.

Request to review and suggest.  Let me know if you need any more info.

    Hmm... you are a bit low on disk space. When looking at free HD space, it's not just CCS that will use that free space. Besides Windows, other running programs will also use that space. You may want to free up more space (clean out temp folders, etc) and see if that helps.

    Any idea how much free space is recommended?.  While running CCS other than the tutorials there are no other programs such as word etc.  I think tutorials use browser which could be utilising the virtual memory.  Is my understanding right?. 

    You might be right in a way since at couple of times I did not use the browser and there is no warning.  Let me free up more space and not use the browser this time around and report back.

    I'm not sure how much space you need. I'm guessing that CCS is on the same drive that has 4 GB free. You can try changing the location of temp and page files to reside on the drive with more space. That may help.
