printf statements not showing CCS 5.4

Hi,

I have code we moved over from CCS 3.3. I have print statements that showed in the output window OK there, but I don't see them in 5.4.

I'm assuming they should show in the Console window? I have selected my program from the "Display selected console" box.

Is there some setting I need to change to enable them?

hi,

Yes, it should be in the console. Make sure you are in the CIO console:

If it is not showing up there, then there may have been some issue with the migration from v3.3.

Hi,

I have the console open, but CIO is not an option from the drop down. How do I open it?

For the CIO console to be available, you must be in a debug session and C I/O must be sent to the console (ex. a printf statement must have been executed). If those conditions are true and you still do not see it, can you send me a screenshot of your whole CCS environment?

My available choices in the console display are:

Team Foundation Server Messages

CDT Global Build Console

CDT Build Console [5900 EM main]

For whatever reason, C I/O is not working correctly in your environment since the C I/O console is not available. I would check this troubleshooting guide:

Since it was working in v3.3 and you imported it from that environment, I wonder if some settings got changed during the import that shouldn't have been. In any case, the steps in the troubleshooting tips may shed some light on the settings that were impacted.
