Code Composer Studio installation problem...

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, CODECOMPOSER

Hi,

I am getting an error when I am installing the code composer studio v3.3 that says

"Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

This happens for every computer I have tried, so does not depend on the windows installer package I guess. I am attaching installer log file that was generated by the installer.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot...

Emre

  • The error 1722 is a Windows installation error that can happen because of individual PC operating system and settings. There are a couple of ways to fix this:

One way is to install CCS using the custom-install option (where you can pick and choose which components to install).  Go under each platform (C2000, C5000, C6000...) and choose "not" to install BIOS.  Then once the installer finishes go here and install BIOS 5.32 (latest version which does not use install-shield) and once the BIOS is installed go to component manager and select that BIOS version for all your platforms.

Alternatively, this has been known to be fixed by modifying the regional and language options of the host Windows sysem. Go to Control Panel and Regional and Language Options and make sure under "regional options" "English (United States)" and Location "United States" is selected.  Users who had other regions set (such as "Turkish") have run in to this issue.  After changing to "United States" the install should work ok.

  • Emre - Looking at your log file it appears that the BIOS installer is indeed the issue. This sometimes occurs in sepcific environments. I would follow Bernie's suggestions to not install BIOS. This should resolve the issue. If you still get the issue, let us know and I can point you to another workaround.

    Thanks

    ki

  • I am getting the same error even after I have removed all the BIOS install options.

I should mention that I am trying to run setup again after I had uninstalled a previous installation. ( The previous install had completed, but code composer was unable to connect to my emulator even though SdConfig would work fine.  I thought I might have messed something up, so I tried to uninstall and run setup again. )  The DSP/Bios was listed in my list of programs in the control panel, but it said it was unable to remove it properly.

Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated !

  • Error 1722 is often related to the BIOS installer, but not always. Can you attach your TI_InstallLog.txt file so I can confirm that the issue is related to the BIOS installer?

  • Here is the log file.

  • Thanks. Indeed it is related to the BIOS installer. There is a way to completely bypass the BIOS installation. This has been known to help workaround the issue. It involves tweaking the existing install files. If you can provide a e-mail address, I can send it to you. Also let me know if you are installing the full tools or the free eval tools.

    Thanks

    ki

  • Thanks for the help.  I am using the full version of code composer studio, platinum v3.3.  bellison@hmgsl.com

  • Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, the installation fails for a 1722 error while installing the DSP Bios although I could not see any BIOS setup in the installer, can I have those files please?

  • Hello everyone,

it looks like I've stumbled upon the same issue: installation of CCS Platinum v 3.3 in Win XP SP2  hangs forever upon reaching DSP/bios setup. If I kill the process dsp_bios_setupwin32_5_31_02_08.exe from the Task Manager, MSI  posts an error 1772 and rolls back.

I can't attach the log file due to security software on company's PC, but it looks exactly the same as the one attached to BEllison's post. Here is where the problems start to show:

Dear Ki-Soo, I would really appreciate if you sent the mentioned above tweaked version of installation program to bypass DSP/bios setup to this e-mail: oleg.konevsky@samsung.com .

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hello Ki Soo Lee,

i read your answer about installation of CodeComposer and DSP-Bios.

I have the same problem during installation and in my log file I see, that there is the problem with the Bios-Installation.

So i think, if you gave the information from your post also to, ithink it will help me.

My E-Mailadress is: "peter.jenckel@levitec.de" and I am installing a full version of CodeComposer 3.3

    Thanks, Peter.

  • Hello Mr. Konevsky,

did Mrs. Ki-Soo sent the tweaked version of the Installation programms to you?

I would be happy, if you can sent this files also to me, because i habe the same problem.

Thank you in advance, Peter Jenckel.

  • Peter,

Please send me a private message (click on my name to get to my profile and an option to start a conversation will be available in the upper right hand corner). And let me know if you are using the full tools or the eval version.

    Thanks

    ki

  • Dear Peter,

I got no reply to my request and no "tweaked" installation program. After all, I ended up reinstalling Windows and setting up CCS in totally clean OS environment. Painful and silly solution, but it seemed to be the only way.

    Best luck,

    Oleg.

  • Hello,

I have the same problem as Emre (our log are very similar), I tried to uncheck the installation of DSP Bios, but i got exactly the same error.

It appears that there is a modified msi file that could fix the problem, is that true?

If so, could you please send it zipped (i'm afraid my company could consider a msi file as a virus) to :

    daniel.fernandes.external@eads.com

    Best regards,

    Daniel

  • Hi Ki,

I also have this issue to reinstall CCS3.3 with Error msg: 1722.

Can you please send me the "setup.msi" file and I use the full version.

    Thank you!

  • I have fixed this issue and installed successfully.

I did all uninstallation operation but finally forgot to delete completed C:\CCStudio_v3.3 folder.

So, I deleted the CCStudio_v3.3 folder and it was work!
